I actually filled it up too much and let it idle for too long. If it gets too hot, the sled will puke excess oil out

When you notice the light for the first time did you check your oil

No, I hadn't gotten a low oil message yet

so all you did was an oil change put too much oil in it let it run until it got hot and spit oil out and then the light has never come on again

Well, I needed an oil change anyways. I actually used too much (I put in how much you would need if doing a filter, which is more) and when I let it get hot, I had oil dripping out my belly pan. Looking inside the panels, you could see where it spit it out in the airbox

Even if you add more oil, that should help your light issue. I only did an oil change because it had been about 2,500 miles since my last

The oil light on the gauge pod reads the oil pressure switch. It's not a oil level indicator.

Why does this light come on when you shut the machine off sometimes

It just a flash right? It does that when it starts also. That way you know its not burned out.

I'm curious that this issue was remedied by adding oil. Or maybe it's because I haven't pushed it hard yet this season

Bww, Are you shutting off with kill switch or key? On your last post you said if the lights on that you need to turn off the key for a minute or so to get the light to go out? That makes me believe your using the kill switch to shut down.
Should be using the key for normal on/off and operation and the kill switch when you're on you side.
