I heard a rumor yesterday that the reps from Cat have to return all their demo sleds to headquarters this weekend! I also heard that they are ceasing production. I believe we are going to hear the future on the partnership real soon! AGAIN RUMORS!
The rumor mill is heavy today.......... I'm no expert but I don't believe AC can "order" a dealer to return anything. Dealers buy them and if a manufacturer wants them back they can buy them back. Also going back to the manufacturer would be the worst place for unsold inventory. What are they going to do, put them on display? You guys in the great lakes might be having a rough snow year but it's been pretty good here in the west. If there is in fact moving of demo sleds, AC is more than likely facilitating dealer trades to move them to heavier snow areas where they are selling pretty well.
It's also my understanding AC is having one of their best sales years in a long time. They obviously had some issues to work out when they were AC and when textron took them over they worked on them pretty quickly. Even their own website they say the alpha one was 11 years in the making. Sounds good for marketing but a suspension system should take that long to figure out. Plus the Ctec2 was released in 2014 in the 6000 then not until 4 years later for the 8000. Textron seemed to very quickly iron out some problems AC had.
I also don't see yamaha or cat buying one another out. What does yamaha have to offer AC? A 4 stroke engine that sold very poorly? AC has a little more to offer yamaha but for a price that has that has gone up pretty significantly over what they could have bought it for before textron bought them and they had sleds they couldn't give away. Continuing a strategic alliance seems likely. A buy out, probably not. Even if it was the Federal Trade commission has to approve it, which takes almost 6 months of review which they are in shut down right now anyway. Finally even if yamaha did buy out AC I doubt they would shut down the US plant. The profits are not excellent on snowmobiles so using what is already there rather than rebuilding another manufacturing facility to do the same thing and be taxed importing it would not be a great idea.

I wish someone would put a smooth running, 200 hp Yamaha 4 stroke triple into a great bump chassis, and I'd buy one!
Wait a second....I did!!!

Toronto almost never has snow. Our best riding starts about 1.5 hours north past Gravenhurst. And then go a little higher.
That's why I said near Toronto. He is actually in Waterloo next to Kitchener.

Guys, don't have to worry about global warming. Just change the chemistry of water to freeze at let's say 40 degrees, or better yet 70 degrees! We can ride in shorts and a tee shirt! LOL Might stink for boaters though. LOL

We are all hoping for a miracle, but I have a feeling we are going to get a huge disappointment.

Hopefully they will have some teaser videos a few weeks before the release like they’ve done in the past.

Nothing "new" from either Yamaha or AC. BNG and the talk from the execs of both will continue to be cloudy at best so as not to promise something they can't provide. Like Yamaha did at the beginning of the agreement with 5 new sleds in 5 years.
