This juggernaut of a thread just might reach 200 pages before Yamaha pulls back the curtain and shows us what's coming out for 2020 in another 7-8 weeks.

In a perfect world....
Yamaha would buy Artic Cat from Textron and like Toyota, Nissan, Honda ect built their product in North America.
If Yamaha had total control they would hopefully ensure the quality control was up to the standard we Yamaha faithful have all become accustom to for decades.
Artic Cat chassis and suspension engineers working for Yamaha could be the perfect marriage.
Sigh...the world is not perfect...

OK here is my guess for the future. I do not see both companies going there separate ways. Instead I think it may be possible for Cat and Yamaha to not only share the same product but also start sharing the same trade name assuming the new name has greater value. A example might be dropping the slow selling Thundercat and replacing it with the Sidewinder. In Northern Europe a Bearcat could be replaced with the VK540. As far as new designs go how about a $20,000 high end machine with Yamaha trade name and design standard. At the other end of the spectrum a new affordable entry level machine with Arctic Cat trade name and design standard.
This should stir the pot! What say you?

YESSSSS!!!
100 pages of total speculation and useless information.

Good work guys!

:drink:

Happens every year but 3 seasons ago my insertions into the same conversations were spot on and the rest is history.....It was a 3 hole 1000cc turbo 4 stroke. And here we are....

Once in awhile these rumors are true. One way or another it gives us something to chat about while we wait and wait and wait for it to snow.

Remember the "Big 3 in auto manufacturing? They are made up of several companies that merged. Could happen here.

Yea could happen, but I’m hoping all the top CEO’s have it out in a gunfight, ya know “OK CORRAL” style. Those little Japanese guys are small and quick, should be hard targets.

Well, they can also deflect bullets with their minds and summon lightning by chanting.

ok soooooooooooooooooo........ Good news! I ran into the local yamaha rep last night out sledding and he gave me some info but couldn't really comment on my other questions.

Good news for you yamaha guys, he confirmed a fully built, mount fiji tested sled. 100% jap no arctic cat influence, he would not say what it was but i made the comment about a new 2 stroke and he just smiled.

Also about the textron agreement, he w0uld not comment what the new agreement was, but did say it is going strong and he is excited to see where it goes. Also would not comment on if yammi bought the sled side of things, but did say textron was not interested in the sleds at all...

So take it for what it is worth, but he was riding his demo and said he was not asked to give it back. Also yamaha's plan with the inventory reduction is really working, they want the old stock sold out by march. And they are solidly on target.

I think this Yamaha rep is telling you what you want to hear. If it is true that would make you the first person to be told that info. Do you have this person's contact info cause I would like to talk to this guy. :drink:

He has no reason to lie. He would have told me straight up if he knew nothing like the last time i ran into him. Told me he only learned about it on a conference call this past week, and said he is going away to learn more the start of march.

I was told that it was a 3 cyl 2 stroke in a nytro chassis with a Jack shaft driven supercharger. It has single shot rear skid with the new front shocks that are tied together and I almost forgot it has team clutch and tuner 3 ski's
