Well since 2017 the beginning of the sidewinder , there have been a few issues , now moving on to 2020 has yamaha addressed any of the issues for example blowing belts etc...
Personally I love my sidewinder and have experienced , very few issues , nothing serious except over heating rather quickly while stopped to wait for others to catch up lol or in hard packed trail conditions

Yamaha updated the clutching on the 2019 models - I have a little over 3,000 miles on my '19 LE and I have yet to notice any belt issues. There have been no updates to the cooling system to add a radiator and fan to aid cooling while stopped, but that's not a huge issue for me (if I'm really waiting for that long, I turn around and head back). So far, my SideWinder has been absolutely bulletproof.

LOL :). Yeah, I'm used to having to wait. Ain't nothing keeps up with these tuned 998s unless it's another tuned 998! :D

Good to hear these comments, I've yet to get out , I traded my 2017 Ltd so for a new srx , but we haven't had any snow

84 miles on my 20 sidewinder very depressing. Ice scratchers will help with some of the over heating for sure. I put them on mine. There a life saver for my dad's 900 ace turbo.

Sometimes scratchers are needed.

Test your antifreeze, it will read ~55 F , remove antifreeze and add distilled water until it reads ~20 F

My sled was over heating a lot when it was new. I made sure my coolant was good for -40 and I took some coolant out and added Red Line Water Wetter. It has been running cooler since I did that.

Distilled water? Won't that freeze?

Yea if you mix it at 50/50 I get that. Removing and just adding willy Nilly could cause issues.

Just use a good quality and add ice scratchers

Correct. I believe he was implying not to use tap water but instead distilled water to get ratio correct. Tap water has lots of different minerals that can lead to corrosion.
