I have a 2015 XTX which I was going to sell and get a 2020 viper but the prices seem bit out of line. Yamaha is claiming its a 125HP trail sled but the prices sure don't reflect a 600cc sled and that is all they are. They are more like an 850 cc price. I know we pay a premium for these sleds to get reliability and factory warranty etc. but come on!! I have had 26 Yamaha sleds and now more than ever I am losing interest in them with this Arctic cat joint effort. The quality is down and the price is up. We have lost chassis/drive train reliability and only held onto engine reliability with bad mapping on this sled.
Those idiots at Cat cant even put a drain plug on the chain case. I had to put my own on.

I think the 2020s have some nice updates to them. Actually not bad for pricing at all. They definitely have some nicer upgrades compared to my ltx. If I needed a new sled, I’d be buying that all red ltx!

The Viper LTX GT is a sweet set up. LED headlight, new body panels, heated seat, visor plug, new front end, Qs3 shocks, new ECU mapping, new intake routing, new coolant routing, tunnel bag. New Stealth controls. Pretty much loaded!

For $1000 more than what I paid for my 2018 that doesn’t have near the updates or accessories. The QS3 shocks are worth more than that alone! Good deal in my opinion. Everyone remember when the old srx 700 and vipers were $7-$8k new? Inflation hurts, but it’s all relevant..

What is new coolant routing are you referring to?

there’s probably a bit of a plumbing reroute because of that. Not even sure what the benefit of that would be...

I absolutely agree that they are priced at a MXZ X-RS or Indy XC 850 level. I recently bought a Viper because I was looking for long term reliability (your comments above have scared me now though) and because it was a discounted 2018 model. Couldn't swallow the pill of a brand new model year. Have they (Yamaha) always been premium priced or is this a new trend? Ultimately the market I guess will decide if they have a product with enough perceived value to overcome the cost differences.

Yes Yamaha has always been priced on the high end of the spectrum. Resale value of the Viper has taken a huge hit because they had so many leftovers from the last 3 years or so. Thats been my experiance so far this spring as I am looking to trade my 2014 in for a new 2020.

Red Viper GT is nice..
