I agree with this. Yamaha is getting screwed in this agreement IMO. Also I too see zero growth with this line up. There all the same sled minus shocks and colors. How do you expect to make money doing that? I guess I'm just bummed out because I see Ski-doo and Polaris thriving like crazy and know if Yamaha would just listen to the market then that could be them thriving too.Imo Yamaha snow division will not grow this year and it will be a dismal year. Most are waiting for the other boot to drop either Yamaha will acquire AC snow division from Textron, close the Yamaha snow division or break off from Textron and go it alone in USA or Japan. No future for Yamaha in the current one sided OEM Agreement this I’m certain. Expect and prepare for change whatever that will be.

It is not my intention to bash Yamaha in this post BUT, here it goes. To me, there is NOTHING about Yamaha’s current strategy that makes any sense at all. The idea that they have to keep anything they are working on under wraps and can’t give their people some indication as to what is ahead is an old and outdated ways of thinking. Auto makers invite the press to see their prototypes and autos that will be available within the next two years. For example. How long have we known about the C8 Corvette. Imagine IF Yamaha released some info/pictures/video, other than trust us, on the sled they’re developing to be introduced in the next couple of years. That would be really good for dealers and give buyers confidence that they are staying in the game. Much better than the perpetual “something big is coming next year” hope. In a time when the “truth” is often determined by what agenda driven opinion channel you listen to on TV, honesty and transparency would really be welcomed and effective.

I've said this in the 2018, 2019 and 2020 threads. Anyone that understands business, knows this is a nearly ideal situation to be in. Profitable sales of their engines, with zero risk of left over inventory at season end that would need to be discounted for break even or a loss. Any manufacturer would be tickled to be able to use Just-in-time processes to make only the amount of product that is sold with nearly zero risk.
Or the alternative of spend 5-8 years of R&D to develop a product that will either be a huge hit, or fall flat on it's face, or even better yet, get released by a competitor prior to release. And then lose all that R&D investment before being able to recoup it in sales. Or manufacture a new engine and a new chassis and end up in April with thousands of units on hand because of a low snow year or other variable outside their control.
Given the situation that you say is "getting screwed" is exactly what they want. Otherwise, they would not be doing it.
Here's a little more information from the Yamaha camp. Yamaha has a normal time to release new watercraft and boats. This past month, the released a new model line that is larger than their current boats. In fact, so wide, they will not be able to legally trailer them in most states without a permit. And they are priced $30k - $60K higher than their current flagship boat.
What do they do, they offer a limited run as pre-order only. Marketing has determined how many they can possibly sell with no carry over stock, that can help recoup some development costs. And like their current boat line, they limit the builds so dealers are not stuck with inventory that they have to heavily discount before the next model year is announced.
With this process, they can further judge the demand for this product without tarnishing their name, or shafting the dealers. They can adjust features for the next model year and do it all over without anyone having to make the decision of buying a carry over. This also keeps the resale value up on used, as the supply is limited.
This is not Yamaha's first go at this business model. And no, there were little to no signs that Yamaha was going to introduce this new boat. As it competes in a whole new market. If and I say it again IF, they decide to release an all yamaha design in the sled industry, it will be tight lipped. There are too few MFG's in this sport. So it will never be like the detroit auto show with dozens of prototypes and future vehicles.
I'm with others in thinking, #1 priority for AC and Yamaha is to streamline the business and get all costs under control for either a take over, buy out, or further business as usual.

I heard Cat is not selling any new models in 2020 and no longer offer the 1049cc engines in the 7000 series
Something is going on between the two companies

I agree, they are still putting sleds out, clearing up old stock & nothing much from cat. Everything is super quiet, leading me to believe they are parting ways & Yami will be building their own stuff soon or they are possibly buying out the sled side of cat. Just not saying anything until things are final.I heard Cat is not selling any new models in 2020 and no longer offer the 1049cc engines in the 7000 series

I agree and a Yamaha media release of the future of snow biz would have held me. Unfortunately I lost the faith in wait until next year and bought a 2019 Skidoo 900t Enduro. There is no OEM Agreement renewal announcement so must be month to month between Textron and Yamaha and the relationship is being stripped down and product dependent to what is being bought and sold on an OEM basis. Yamahas revenue is limited just selling the 3 cylinder turbo for the Thundercat and that market doesn’t seem to do as well as the Sidewinder. I just don’t see how this arrangement can be continued and be incremental sales and revenue for Yamaha. For Textron yes but not for Yamaha. The OEM relationship appears to be winding down and needs to be more equitable or it will end. I just can’t buy into the near or long term future of the current relationship between Textron and Yamaha. It is not my intention to bash Yamaha in this post BUT, here it goes. Looks like Yamaha is dropping new patients in the last couple months, so it makes things interesting... None of the manufacturers really had anything earth shattering for 2020 year .

Yamaha has been filing sled patents for many years and nothing makes it to mass production. I see a Yamaha patent look at it wonder then nothing. I’ll look at patents but have little faith that patent will become a product again just doesn’t happen all adds up to a lack of snow biz commitment for me.Looks like Yamaha is dropping new patients in the last couple months, so it makes things interesting... Do some of you guys have a crystal ball and able to see into the future. No I didn't think so, this thread is going to turn out just like the 2020 release thread, a bunch of people talking like there lips don't match and trying to predict the future of yamaha's snowmachine's. Same people complaining about the same old stuff. Whitedust1 congrats to the purchase of your new Ski Don't, but why are you still on this YAMAHA SITE complaining about Yamaha other than trying to stir the pot, please head over to Doo Talk they enjoy and encourage that kind of behavior.

Tray you can try and chase me away all you want but last I checked this is Mr Sleds site and you don’t get to to pick and chose what opinions are voiced on TY. I bought Yamaha sleds since 2007 and will continue to consider Yamaha snowmobiles now and in the future. Open your mind to other points of view or don’t open topics that upset you.Do some of you guys have a crystal ball and able to see into the future. I'm not trying to run you off by no means but I have a problem with you coming on here and complaining about Yamaha because they didn't build you a sled that you wanted. You came from an Apex and bought a Ski Doo how does that give you the right to rip on the newer Yamahas you never even owned one. Maybe if you had i would not have a problem with your opinion on things. I get it you think the new Yamaha's are junk and not your cup of tea and you thought the Ski Doo was a better fit for you. That's all good and I get that but it just goes on and on. Peace Out in going for a snowmachine ride

Whoa..... please show me where I posted anything like that? Most of my posting has been speculation regarding the business relationship between Textron and Yamaha. Yes I recently purchased a skidoo 900t Enduro and other TY members wanted to know more about the 900t so we discussed in public and private messages. If this upsets you don’t open theses topicsI'm not trying to run you off by no means but I have a problem with you coming on here and complaining about Yamaha because they didn't build you a sled that you wanted. You came from an Apex and bought a Ski Doo how does that give you the right to rip on the newer Yamahas you never even owned one. I’m out of this conversation your are not posting anything constructive just off the wall comments. I wish you all the best with whatever brand snowmobile maybe in your future.Right on dude, please explain how an agreement with Yamaha and Tectron has anything to do with you buying a Ski Doo and coming on here and bragging about it. Last time I looked this thread was about the 2021 Yamaha. I totally think your on here complaining about what Yamaha has to offer so you Can justify your Ski Doo purchase.

I just want 325 plus hp out of the box, and the procross chassis is fine with me.
I don't think that's asking too much.
No wimpy 160 hp sleds for this guy, thanks anyway.
