Is this the future of sledding? Is this what our younger generation wants. After all they do ride standing up.

I have rode both turbo ace & the current 850 e-tec... I will with belt problems.... than sleds with poor steering , no power & poor throttle response... I was actually shocked how bad the ace was (throttle delay ...Yamaha would never put that embarrassment into production)Whoa..... please show me where I posted anything like that? Most of my posting has been speculation regarding the business relationship between Textron and Yamaha. Yes I recently purchased a skidoo 900t Enduro and other TY members wanted to know more about the 900t so we discussed in public and private messages. If this upsets you don’t open theses topics

I thought the whole purpose for these types of forums was to respectfully share thoughts. Whether is a skidoo, Ac, or POL, many people on here want to hear the good bad and ugly of all manufactures because we like snowmobiles, not just ones with a tuning fork on them. The few on here that seem to have a problem with others talking about other manufactures and the new stuff they produce have a reading comprehension problem. They, and I think you know who you are, lose their mind if someone doesn’t praise everything Yamaha does. It’s like they have a derangement syndrome. We write something they hear something completely different. They will say you’re free to think and speak your own opinion as long as it’s the same as my opinion. If it’s not, then get off the site. Not to get political, but that’s why many of us spend the time on here that we do. To get away from the politics you see 24/7 on TV. THINK LIKE US OR GET OUT. That says a lot about the type of person you are. We can move on to other sites but where would this site be if we all just had the opinion that whatever Yamaha comes out with is great. What? Your hand warmers don’t get warm? Quit bashing Yamaha my hand warmers are great and skidoo sucks. What, your idler wheels are delineating over and over. Quit bashing Yamaha, they are great.

From a recent SEC filing:
Textron is in the third month of its restructuring plan that resulted in
product rationalization and the elimination of approximately 400 positions of Textron Specialized Vehicles’ /Arctic Cats' workforce, the closure of several factory-direct branch locations and a manufacturing facility. The restructuring actions also included the re-branding of some vehicles in the ATV line up back to Arctic Cat. However this plan has not produced the results that were expected in the operating results for these businesses. With that said we are looking at all of our options including the sale of the snowmobile segment.
It’s quite possible.
So if Yamaha buys Cat from textron we have three Manufactures, if they continue to buy Cats and sticker them we have three manufactures. I don't see it as a bad thing but I'm sad just a little bit. Yamaha selling the Venture and the VK Pro is just to clear inventory I believe when stockpile is gone so are they. I fell in love with Yamaha in 2005 because of the delta box and that motor. None of that Yamaha is left, so a bit of me died in 2018 and that part of Yamaha died as well. No matter how you look at it, we are loosing a builder and even if they build a sled together one less sled manufacture competing. Maybe its me cause I grew up with snow jet, rupp, snowcruiser, Husky, john deer, Mercury, snow pony, Skiroule, Evinrude, AMF, Ski-daddaler, moto-ski, snow prince, sno bug and the other 4 we know survived. I know there are many more and I was not trying to create a list of all the sleds built only the ones I rode, owned, or rode with! I don`t relish the idea of one more gone. It makes me sad! The only up side is the snow is melting we are getting real warm for the next week so I can ride my other love, My Yamaha RSV! Here is to the cannonball 2,500 mile this year. 5 days and 40 venders to get a card from.

In therory its supposed to be all lovey dovey but bashing the other team always has been allowed. Sometimes it gets out of hand and now we can't bash Cat well cause its a Yamaha sort of. We can though bash the old Yamaha cause it sucks and its why Yamaha partnered sort of with Cat. So to recap, we can bash Doo Poo and the old Cat is a grey area as is the old Yamaha (people get testy). In a nut shell bashing the other sleds is ok as long as its done with a bit of taste. Problem is not everyone is on board and tempers flare. So not bashing any brand is probably a great idea. When I can here from Cat, there was nothing good to say about Cat or Doo or Poo. Yamaha was number one and the four stroke was the best and all the others where junk in comparison. It was a different crowd back then with some real good heads. We had fun on and off this board. Yamaha tied us all together. Now that Yamaha has partnered kind of with Cat and basically said if ya want a new Yamaha buy a Cat, it is a bit confusing as to where it is all headed. It has pitted the old Yamaha and the New Yamaha against each other. I think it is the loss of identity I talked about a few times. I myself have thought about a Doo but not a turbo fan, So I wait and have waited and it grows on ya and eats a bit. WTF is going on? Maybe I should buy a Venture and make a Apex swap and get the sled I always wanted from Yamaha! I guess I just grew old and like so many before me maybe its just time to leave it to the young and dumb, I used to fit in but grew old and slow! Wanna buy an Apex?

I can’t comment on the NA ACE or the 850 I have no interest in them and zero experience by the seat of my pants. I did demo the 900t with 2 Apex xtx owners because I wanted their opinion on the 900t power. They both liked the Renegade x 900t power felt it didn’t lack power compared to the Apex. 900t Throttle response was excellent for all and zero lag. As far as belts I can’t comment on that either other in my first 800-900 miles no adjustments were necessary and very little wear. All our Apex have excellent belt wear as well and the 900t belt is much more expensive.I have rode both turbo ace & the current 850 e-tec... Yep.. as true Yamaha sledders are identity has been taken and this is why their is confusion, hopefully Yamaha does not expand their confusion to the ATV and UTV side of that sport, but I bet it was talked about, it would not surprise me that we see a Grizzly stickered two up from Cats line up.

And some Bravos
And some Enticers
ATVs are all made at the big plant down in Georgia. There is no sign that the ATV business is suffering the way the snowmobile division appears to have been.

I was talking about the turbo ace .... if you think that sled works good and is as fast as a Apex ,I guess you must evaluate sleds different than me ...lol The Apex throttle response & the turbo ace throttle response are at the opposite ends of each other . The Apex still leads the way in that department.... injoy your skidoo , but stop trying to put it on the same lvl as a Yamaha motor..lolI can’t comment on the NA ACE or the 850 I have no interest in them and zero experience by the seat of my pants. Yeah,... but what puts a red flag up is Cat is migrating Yamaha motors to their SXS chassis.ATVs are all made at the big plant down in Georgia. There is no sign that the ATV business is suffering the way the snowmobile division appears to have been.

I never said the Apex engine or 900t was better both imo are good mills imo and I like them both in the chassis they are used. I have not lined up an Apex and 900t head to head and have no intention to do so. I can say they both work well for their intended purpose built sleds.I was talking about the turbo ace .... if you think that sled works good and is as fast as a Apex ,I guess you must evaluate sleds different than me ...lol The Apex throttle response & the turbo ace throttle response are at the opposite ends of each other . I think I may put my money on the 900T in a drag race against an Apex, with both sleds 100% stock.(although I think it would be very close). I've seen many dyno reports of stock apex's, and most are under 160. I've seen two reports of 900T's and they were slightly above 160.
I haven't drove the 900T yet, but given the manifold design/layout, the response can't be instant like an Apex or Winder.
I think some people have a very different opinion on what is good throttle response and/or what isn't.
