Yamaha has been filing sled patents for many years and nothing makes it to mass production. I see a Yamaha patent look at it wonder then nothing. I’ll look at patents but have little faith that patent will become a product again just doesn’t happen all adds up to a lack of snow biz commitment for me.
Every patent they have did end up in production..its spelled out they are developing a new chassis...but there is going to be much longer prototyping and testing being its carbon fiber

Patience or go buy a a different brand...beggers cant be choosers

The 1200 Doo had a laggy throttle and everyone said it sucked, yet two guys I rode with that had them both said what lag. They rode hard and I clocked one at 103mph on the gps. If Doo had ever made a 1200 SS with 150 HP I would have had a hard time resisting that temptation. We are all sled riders we make our choices and we ride, one chooses one brand one chooses another. I have a Cat and a Yamaha in the garage and a Doo at my Dads.

So if Yamaha buys Cat from textron we have three Manufactures, if they continue to buy Cats and sticker them we have three manufactures. I don't see it as a bad thing but I'm sad just a little bit. Yamaha selling the Venture and the VK Pro is just to clear inventory I believe when stockpile is gone so are they. I fell in love with Yamaha in 2005 because of the delta box and that motor. None of that Yamaha is left, so a bit of me died in 2018 and that part of Yamaha died as well. No matter how you look at it, we are loosing a builder and even if they build a sled together one less sled manufacture competing. Maybe its me cause I grew up with snow jet, rupp, snowcruiser, Husky, john deer, Mercury, snow pony, Skiroule, Evinrude, AMF, Ski-daddaler, moto-ski, snow prince, sno bug and the other 4 we know survived. I know there are many more and I was not trying to create a list of all the sleds built only the ones I rode, owned, or rode with! I don`t relish the idea of one more gone. It makes me sad! The only up side is the snow is melting we are getting real warm for the next week so I can ride my other love, My Yamaha RSV! Here is to the cannonball 2,500 mile this year. 5 days and 40 venders to get a card from.

What Sas says is true... if Yamaha buys cat there will be 3 OEMS Cat will be gone consolidated into the Yamaha brand. Initially you would see AC 2s sleds and Yamaha 4s sleds until production parts are used up. From there it’s anybody’s guess what sleds and engines would be available under Yamaha ownership.

Yep I did exactly as you advised. Right on!!!

I think I may put my money on the 900T in a drag race against an Apex, with both sleds 100% stock.(although I think it would be very close). I've seen many dyno reports of stock apex's, and most are under 160. I've seen two reports of 900T's and they were slightly above 160.
I haven't drove the 900T yet, but given the manifold design/layout, the response can't be instant like an Apex or Winder.
I think some people have a very different opinion on what is good throttle response and/or what isn't.
I really don’t think the 900t stock will run the top speed of the Apex. Just had my 08 LTX GT 40th with 32000kms today and it did 117 mph on gps. My SW did 122 mph on the same lake run.

117 is a lot of speed even for a Apex. When I had my 1997 700 triple Vmax we raced on several occasions and yes he did beat me but not by the margin you would think. The low to mid range of my 7000 El Tigre 1049cc would scare the crap out of my buddies 2007 Apex in a 1/4 mile drag race. It will happen next winter:4STroke:

The daughters 16 Viper 137 ran 105.6mph on GOS today also with my fat 220lb #*$&@ lol

Totally stock? I have a 137" with a modded airbox and I've been playing with the primary weights(Dalton) and the best I've seen is 158km/hr, and that's just on my speedo.

As far as the the future of Yamaha and the partnership with Textron, I love my 7000 and it doesn't inspire confidence when I dont see Cat selling a lot of 7000 models. The 1049 has been the best motor for a long time now, so I think is foolish to turn their backs on it.
I also would love to see a turbo 500(Phazor) motor in a better (even Procross) chassis. These motors have a lot to give.

I had 121 40th Apex would consistently be plus 115 gps , a good running Apex will beat all current 2 strokes, somthing most non Yamaha guys don't realize. Just ask my buddy with a new 850 Polaris lol. Apex maybe rated at 150 hp , but runs like it's 180 hp .

I have to ask trail or ice. They are slower on the trail. My Apex hits 112 gps on a groomed trail.

The puzzle pieces starting to fit the scenario where Cat and Yamaha agree not to compete in certain areas. The 1049 was probably part of the original agreement which may have expired. The 998T part of a newer agreement - still valid. The fact that Yamaha only used Cat's 600 2s in a utility sled and not a trail sled is also interesting.

I see the same on groomed trail, 118 on a lake.
