Mainly because of chaincase and driveshaft issues, I traded my sidewinder last spring for a 2020 900t, 3000 kms his season no issues, very easy to service and adjust chain. Miss the power of the sidwinder but not the headaches. However if Yamaha fixes chaincase and drive axle , I will be back on one
BRP is having issues with their chaincases too! My bro's 900t exploded and metal pieces when flying through his hood and side panels. Luckily he wasn't injured. He said he has heard quite a few problems with them too. Not always greener on the other side.

Snorunner i appreciate the post. I understand your frustration on the vector skid. The new shock should make a big difference for you. I spent a fair amount of time on my fathers 2018 Apex X-TX, and the bump compliance was quite good. Our apologies that campaign rolled out the way it did which left you on your own, we hope the sled has been treating you well otherwise its a great sled!
JMS: Thanks for your reply. They are great sleds. If you want a possible solution to your bearing and driveshaft problems. I would be glad to meet you in Thief River Falls. I live in northern MN. I have been fixing things since 1978. I know old fart! I can introduce you to a synthetic metal conditioner I used to sell. I have not mentioned it on here because I will be called a snake oil salesman. I say this because I sold it for 10 years. Only stopped because the manufacturer would not give me a contracted territory. I am not kidding I have re engineered Caterpillars, Motor Homes and I built a rear mount for my Vectors to mount a gas can and Ski Doo Linq Mount to the rear of my Vector. I have not tried to sell it on here because I need to buy a $500.00 pipe bender and a $1500.00 Tig welder. P. S you should hire Travis from barn of parts.

I too am a blue blooded yamaha faithful who was hoping for a new pure yamaha sled so I'm a little disappointed not seeing one come to market but with that being said I'd still buy a yamaha over anything else offered by any manufacturer solely because of totally Yamaha. I'll throw a big thank you to all the members who post the helpful threads that make this site an awesome resource. thank you mr. Sled for making it all happen!

ok, I never post, but I have to say something. Talked to my salesman today for a long time. They sell an extreme amount of Yamaha's and cats here in the midwest. He seems to always be in the know with all products. Long story short, the fastest, cheapest, and easiest way for Yamaha to get back in the mountain game was to use the ctec 800. He was at a dealer meeting, and was assured by Yamaha reps they realized they need to get back in the 2 stroke market. Word he was given is, this is a short term fix, and Yamaha is working on a Yamaha built 2 stroke for the future. Take it for what's it's worth and beat me up all you want.....but he convinced me to wait to buy a mountain max, guaranteed me that Yamaha will have their own 2 stroke in a few short years.
I understand many of you love your 4 stokes and despise 2 strokes...but...many of us TRUE off trail and mountain riders need and want a 2 stroke. Jump ship all you want, I've owned and ridden all brands......and trailer'd home plenty of broke down skidoos and polaris sleds from out west. Bitch all you want about team clutches, if you think skidoo clutches are better, wait until you've blown one in to pieces out your side panel barely missing your leg in the the mountains of Idaho......you won't think so highly of them. These "light" skidoo and polaris sleds are great until you clip one stump or rock. Then they are shot. Not a keyboard cowboy...I've seen it. ALL brands have their ups and downs and good and bad points. My point is...the fat lady has not sung...yet. I'm sure plenty will get pi$$ed at my view point and rip me apart.....knock yourselves out, I have thick skin. For now I'll ride my incredibly fun cats with yamaha fuel injection until the yamaha 2 srtoke rises from the grave. Peace out cowboys

Great post. Even though I'm not a two-stroke guy, there is nothing wrong with c tec 800. If I lived in an area that had mountains or off-trail I wouldn't wait, give it a try. A guess. But you must have spoken with Steve’s Sports & Auto. He is a customer of mine and I respect his opinion. For what it’s worth.

Also from what Jaret says I don't think you will ever see an all-Yamaha big bore(made in Japan) two-stroke again. However, that doesn't mean you won't see a US built Cat 850 with a bunch of Yamaha input.Great post. Even though I'm not a two-stroke guy, there is nothing wrong with c tec 800. So sad to see Yamaha and really Cat as well just abandon their customer base and go down the crapper amazing thing is the people running those companies will get paid more money than most of us can even dream of. If they have any intention of staying in business and some days I really doubt that Yamaha and even cat will stay in the sled business they need something next year that is revolutionary or forget it do you have to be scheduled. Like the new Nissan TitanIt was a huge improvement
I live in New England it is illegal to ride off the trail in all states here although it is done in Maine frequently at least till they crack down on it . I can see it being great for that kind of Boondocking in the backwoods but it is pretty useless to me I don’t understand why they didn’t come out with the trail version basically the seat and windshield off the utility versionWith a wider front end at least some threaded collars on the shocks so you could adjust ski pressure........ and I would have rather it been a phaser motor........ Wife rides my old 05 vector want something new four stroke cushy trail sled smaller and lighter than the viper . I have fought against buying a skidoo but will probably cave in as Yamaha has nothing . Skidoo sells a lot of 600/900 ACE doesn’t take a rocket scientist to realize you’re giving up all that market share, And losing loyal customers every day , it’s like they want to go out of business.Just got approval from the Boss/Wife. Sorry never finished that thought the new Titan while improved isn’t head and shoulders above the competition so it still doesn’t sell . Whatever Yamaha does has to be better in terms of ride and handling then skidoo/ Polaris or like the Titan it won’t sellSo sad to see Yamaha and really Cat as well just abandon their customer base and go down the crapper amazing thing is the people running those companies will get paid more money than most of us can even dream of.
