Haven’t you heard about the new turbo diesel all Yamaha one lunger? 45 mpg, lighter than a 2 stroke, More power than a Winder and the most unbelievable part....wait for it......Ride & Handling better than the new Ferrari/Cadillac rumored to be out soon!

We are constantly working to improve quality. For 2021 we have removed the sight glass from the chain-case and replaced it with a check plug, we have replaced the hose that connects the front and rear heat exchanger with a braided hydraulic hose to prevent any issues with ice contact. The IQS models have been improved with different internal components. We are still working through the chain-case gear and driveshaft at this time.

A big part of snowmobile OEM business is selling parts, so don't look for the chaincase plus other issues to be fixed any time soon on the pro cross, Cat/Yamaha will slowly improve a few issues just like the sight glass on the chaincase, plus a few other very small things, so in saying that could Cat/Yamaha fix all the issues owners complain about.. Yes, but they will drag their feet, Cat and others have done this for years, and just when Cat/Yamaha has everything addressed on the procross they will come out with a new and improved chassis, then it starts all over again with issues.

Can you speak briefly on the Transporter 800? I do most of my riding on trail. Could that sled be used effectively in a adventure touring application? Thanks!
The transporter 800 has great trail manners, and is no slouch. It will lift the skis and go, corner to corner acceleration is very strong. Handling is good with the mountain skis, keep in mind its a 38" ski stance so you will have more tip then a conventional trail front end. The articulating rear suspension helps with trail manners.
Overall we position this as a sport utility type vehicle that can be trail ridden but also used for work. Trail riding this sled i would add ice scratchers at a minimum.
This is positive progress for sure! I have been tearing down Yamaha sleds for years and I still occasionally stumble across part refinements from different years that I was not aware of. Things such as extra gussets, increased material thickness, larger bolts ect. The Japan models were refined year after year and I always felt Yamaha lost some of that when joining up with Cat.
Love the concept of the Venom. It's the sled I have been wanting to see....except the two stroke part. Yamaha hooked me on 4 stroke and having to go back to a 2 stroke really has me dragging my feet. How much influence has Yamaha had in this motor? If I have to go back to two stroke I won't be as reluctant if Yamaha had serious involvement in it's development. Is there any DCS technology in this motor? The idea of having to worry about fuel quality again will be less of a concern if DCS is present.
One other quick question..what track pitch on the venom? 2.52 or 2.86? All the cat build trail sleds have been 2.86. Math doesn't hold out for a 121 with 2.86 pitch so I'm assuming it is 2.52.
Yes, the engine has a knock sensor.

ok, I never post, but I have to say something. Talked to my salesman today for a long time. They sell an extreme amount of Yamaha's and cats here in the midwest. He seems to always be in the know with all products. Long story short, the fastest, cheapest, and easiest way for Yamaha to get back in the mountain game was to use the ctec 800. He was at a dealer meeting, and was assured by Yamaha reps they realized they need to get back in the 2 stroke market. Word he was given is, this is a short term fix, and Yamaha is working on a Yamaha built 2 stroke for the future. Take it for what's it's worth and beat me up all you want.....but he convinced me to wait to buy a mountain max, guaranteed me that Yamaha will have their own 2 stroke in a few short years.
I understand many of you love your 4 stokes and despise 2 strokes...but...many of us TRUE off trail and mountain riders need and want a 2 stroke. Jump ship all you want, I've owned and ridden all brands......and trailer'd home plenty of broke down skidoos and polaris sleds from out west. Bitch all you want about team clutches, if you think skidoo clutches are better, wait until you've blown one in to pieces out your side panel barely missing your leg in the the mountains of Idaho......you won't think so highly of them. These "light" skidoo and polaris sleds are great until you clip one stump or rock. Then they are shot. Not a keyboard cowboy...I've seen it. ALL brands have their ups and downs and good and bad points. My point is...the fat lady has not sung...yet. I'm sure plenty will get pi$$ed at my view point and rip me apart.....knock yourselves out, I have thick skin. For now I'll ride my incredibly fun cats with yamaha fuel injection until the yamaha 2 srtoke rises from the grave. Peace out cowboys
Thanks for the post, I don't want you to get any false hopes here. As outlined in the video, our direction for this 2-stroke specific market is the engine in our 2021s.

OK, i have to talk now.
My brain hurts from all this bi-partisan crap.
I do not currently own a Yamaha snowmobile, but i have been here since 2006 with more Likes than Messages, so i believe i can at least speak, if not sit, at the Roundtable.
There are some people here that like the ALL Japan sled...........................they are missing out on an AMAZING ride with the YamaCat.
There are some people here that have NO problems with their YamaCat & tell us stop "whining" cuz they ALL have problems. They are also missing the point.
I LOVED my Winder & am currently eyeing up some leftovers.
Although this sled is AMAZING, it's faults have been here for a DECADE. It's time to fix it.
I know i'm speaking the truth because the honest Jarret admits they fixed a few issues & are currently addressing the drivetrain" issues".
If there were NO problems, then why are they "addressing" them?
I am not, nor have i been, negative towards this sled or Yamaha for that matter.
This is the only sled i had to rely on aftermarket vendors to keep my sled running. Travis & i are on a first name basis. I think he's naming his grandson after me. If not, he should at least name the new wing i payed for after me.
Unfortunately since i bought the first year model, that learning happened after the fact.
I lost 1000's of miles when broken & worked on this sled FOREVER. My bud re-named his garage Steve River Falls.
I would like to thank Jarret for speaking here.
He seems to calm me which is quite an accomplishment considering i've been compared to a Hummingbird on Crack.
They did fix the skis, the tunnel hoses & the sight glass. Sounds like the chain case is being "addressed"
AND they TOLD us about it, most likely due to JMS, which is more then they've EVER done!
SO IN RETROSPECT: I believe the Cat/Yamaha deal is where the big Y will stay & i'm good with that. Just fix the decade long issues so i can come back!
P.S1: Sorry not much humor today, but i did make a reference to King Arthur's Court & threw a dig at Travis. I'm saving myself for next's week trip to Gaspe.
P.S2: I estimate i lost about 2000 to 4000 miles due to my sled being broken & i did ride 2000 miles on other sleds. That makes about 4000 to 6000 miles of down time. That's more miles then some have in total, so please don't call me a whiner.
P.S3: I'm seriously looking at the 2020 all Red Winder. It's like having that Farrah poster on the wall!

Been a die hard Yamaha rider forever. SRX's of the triple days, 07 Apex, 08 40th anniversary Apex which I still have. 2011 Apex, terminal event in Quebec last year that could not be fixed. I was forced to buy a sidewinder in Quebec to get home. It was the best damn thing that happened to me, now looking in hindsight. Trust me, I defended the Apex to everyone. Always using the reliability argument, which went totally out the window Feb 1st 2019. Now that I have the sidewinder, it's night and day better. The seating ergonomics, no more sore knees and hips. The handling, forget about it. The suspension, what suspension in the apex. Are there some issues that need addressing, sure there are. Thankfully I read a lot, and it's not all porn. So I took the steps needed to make the winder as reliable as possible. When I consider the work, hour for hour between the apex and winder, it's about the same. Got sick of doing exhaust donuts on the apex. The exup valve, this all sucked. Got 7,500 miles in a little over a year on my winder, and it's been nothing but a joy. But really, what did you guys expect from Yamaha. They had an essentially unchanged apex for 12 years. I see tons of winders out there, so people must like them. I don't see poo or doo making wholesale changes to their sleds either.
A lot of passionate opinions about what Yamaha has done, hasn't done, and should be doing. I feel badly for JMS and the Yamaha crew in general because this is a very tough crowd to please. Maybe one of the Moderators could start a poll. How many Delta Box (All Japan Sled) owners are there out there, and what percent of them own/have owned a Viper or Sidewinder. Conversely, how many Pro Cross owners are there, and what percent of those current Sidewinder/Viper owners previously owned DB sleds. Finally, how many, what percent, of the current Pro Cross owners are new to Yamaha or never owned a DB sled. Then from each of those three groups, how happy are you now with your current sled, and how many/what percent want to see Yamaha return to manufacturing sleds in Japan vs. what percent want Yamaha to continue with the current Cat arrangement?
Nobody asked me, but my final thoughts on 2021 are that Yamaha did good, not great, but pretty darn good. They didn't stun the world, but they did expand with new models that should satisfy a lot of the Yamaha faithful, giving many of them what they have been asking for Just maybe those new models will bring in some new riders, and make the Yamaha mountain guys' dreams come true. They have fine-tuned most if not all of the issues from the original Viper, and I think it is a great sled. Don't even get me started on the Sidewinder. It is still king of the lake, and I get all "weepy" just thinking that I have to put mine up for the season soon. Finally, thank the heavens, the Tuner ski has gone the way of the dinosaur!
My Yamaha experience is now evenly divided in terms of time (not miles) between Delta Box and Pro Cross sleds. I loved my Vector for all the reasons that the DB guys still love them today, but when I switched to the Pro Cross sleds, my "affection" for Yamaha snowmobiles became an absolute "passion." For whatever reason, even though I have the same number of years riding DB and Pro Cross, I have better than triple the miles on the Pro Cross. Riding my Sidewinder is pure joy, and the worst part of any ride with it is turning off the key at the end of the day.

- 2021- Watch the video. We are still primarily a 4-stroke company and the vast majority of our sales remain in our Sidewinder model line up. The 2-strokes were brought to the market for 2021 to diversify our lineup and provide customers in the MTN's/Entry price point categories a relevant vehicle to fit their market needs.
- We have made improvements to items for 2021 and will continue to work to improve our QDR.
- We work closely with AC in development of new models and place high value in the DNA/Attributes that make the machine a Yamaha. You may not see all of our input on the surface but we have significant resources and development into each vehicle that hits the market.
- The new Stryke ski is a direct result of consumer feedback and we look forward to it hitting the snow in 2021.
- There are thousands of people very happy with their current Yamaha snowmobiles, if you still have snow get out and ride. Enjoy this awesome sport and the vehicles that allow us to do so!

Picking and choosing what are good and bad posts seems a little narrow minded if your looking to improve company products and relations.
We all have opinions and are Yamaha owners, sorry to hear your leaving the thread.

Yamaha isn't public.If this thread makes it to 100 pages it will be a miracle. My finger has moved to the Lock button so many times I lost count! But its is what it is. Keep in mind we are all Snowmobilers. We help each other out no matter what. So anyone a Textron or Yamaha Stockholder?
But maybe they should be.
