2023 Spring Order Sidewinders

Yes, the power surge order numbers were up as the buyers focused on snowcheck vs in-season buying due to the lack of in-season inventory. That number is restricted to snowcheck, not sales growth. Snowcheck up 70% which makes total sense (2021 snowcheck for 2022) as overall snowmobile demand is up, used market is at an all time high, and people suddenly realizing there is no in-season inventory.

And what would you guess snow check sales are as a percentage? I would guess 90% of all sleds sold are ordered by a dealer to use as floor models or customers through the snowcheck program

If you think about the math Yamaha has spoken about.. 70% up on snowcheck numbers but not significant gains in market share means what would have been in-year sales have shifted entirely to snowcheck. I could also read into your question that you feel some dealers may be 'over reserving' sleds by putting putting in orders themselves under snowcheck to create more floor inventory. I wrote a really long post about what I did last year in trying to figure out how to 'game' snowcheck and then deleted it as I never went through with the snowcheck but the bottom line is that while I did come across a few dealers that used to do that, not many currently do and the current program of reserving online first would have all but ended that practice.

I think what Yamaha did was a little clever. From my research during the Nov/Dec/Jan timeframe where I talked a bunch of dealers in person and had a 'business' conversation not a customer one, I discovered dealer wait lists (dealers taking deposits on snowcheck up to a year in advance), inventory pre-allocation (dealers placing orders in family names), and there were probably more ways to game the system. What Yamaha did basically levels the playing field for the average buyer from the standpoint of 'getting on the list', which itself is interesting as Yamaha achieved direct access to the unfiltered list of prospective buyers which were then sent to the dealers putting an end to gaming the system.

Dont forget the TW200. IT has been almost unchanged since 1987 !!!! 35 years!!
the Zuma-----almost unchanged beside motor sizes since 1988
this is something Yamaha has done before with other model lines
And they still sell everyone made.

If the chassis works why change it. I rode my 2000 Tcat until I purchased my 2014 Turbo. I bought it for the chassis. LOL

But sell out of a model in less than an hour ? was not a great plan for return customers like myself and now I am left out of 2023 for a SRX and no sleds on showroom floors to purchase other than entry level kids sleds from Yamaha.

I really think that Yamaha has done a piss poor job of customer satisfaction in the past 2 years. They are driving people away. I would love to do a survey on Yamaha snowmobile products in Canada. They should go and get a few pointers from Skidoo. No wonder they own the market at least in Ontario & Quebec.

I agree very poor customer satisfaction as we fine this the case in many things today… Yamaha kind of put the hand writing on the wall when they stop making their own chassis, then when they moved the snowmobile division to Canada remains to be seen if thats a positive or negative , looking a little negative at this time and hope it changes… IMO they are in a reorganization phase and Yamaha Corporation is only putting very very limited attention to this industry….Their real focus and attention is being spent on research and development of the coming electifcation to all motor vehicles…

Agree. I attempted to put my order in after the new models were announced March 22nd.
Between my internet not being as fast as others and the website crashing I didn't get a reservation number until after three o'clock. I still don't know if I have a new sled yet. I talked to the dealer and he said his territory rep won't return emails. Just brutal.
Even more frustrating is that the 22 GT I had sno-checked last year ended up cancelled by Yamaha - not me!
In my opinion, anyone who had their 22 cancelled should be first in line for a 23 model, I think that's just stating the obvious.
I've been on Yamaha all my life(or Yamaha/Cat). Who knows, I might end up on an all-Cat next year.

Who would blame you …. But buying Cat is really no sweat off their back as your still getting their motor … Now if you were switching to Pol or Doo now then they may take notice …. That then would mean something… Not that pol or Doo customer satisfaction is any better just different side of fence. Really comes down to our loyalty to a brand , more than people care to admit, how much will we put up with …

Similar story from my dealer, i.e., he cannot get an update on how the reservations/orders are being processed. This was as of yesterday afternoon.

I have 2 friends that received Skidoos this past year and 1 friend who just ordered a new Polaris. Both manufactures, you went through your dealer and they were allotted X amount of sleds. When they were spoken for, that was it. Yamaha does not use their dealers anymore and you have to do it online without any confirmation.
Last year I ordered my SRX March 10 through the dealer and then I had Nicole contact me and ask me to call her back in July. I called her 6 times as my phone has a record of it. Could not leave a message because the box was full. My dealer called me September and asked if I had verified my sled. I said no because I did not know anything about it. So I called Nicole again 4 more times and finally got in touch with her. They had my email also but choose to use this mickey mouse system from a cell phone from a remote area.
They did this because Yamaha didn't trust their dealers. I had some intense conversations this past December and January with Yamaha Canada. At one point I asked to speak with there CEO. Long story short I finally received my sled on January 8.

Makes you wonder if Jarett is running the company now after the President retired? I hope not.
I have purchased 9 new Yamaha snowmobile over the years
