It may never become mainstream in the snowmobile market.With the current battery technology no, they aren’t there yet. Will it be in 5 years? Probably not but it’ll be pretty nice once it becomes mainstream. Right now for the type of riding I like to do, a Taiga would work out just fine for me. I’m not going to order one, my plan is to sit things out for the next five years to see how things shake out. Unless the cost of sleds comes down I won’t participate anymore. They are far too expensive for what you are getting regardless of brand. I’m hoping Yamaha is the first big OEM to transition to electric. They already have an EV trails motorcycle that looks like it works really well.
It works OK in some motorcycle applications, but there is a HUGE difference in rolling resistance between a sled and a bike.
Also must also factor in the temperature. Sleds are ridden in cold climates of course where motorcycles aren't.
Often times cell phones die during rides on full charges with no use and fully charged batteries.
But again, they'd be great for ski hills, short rental operations, and some utility use.

Yes but a snowmobile also has far more room to fit a battery compared to a motorcycle. The rolling resistance will be reduced with the direct drive electric motor compared to a CVT plus chain or belt drive. The Taiga uses a coolent system to both warm the battery up and to keep it and the motor at an optimal temperature.It may never become mainstream in the snowmobile market.

I‘m always surprised by the resistance some sledders have towards EV vehicles. It’s not like the existing ICE engines are perfect or enjoyable to be around. I bought two eBikes this summer and while they are gutless and have very limited range, riding around with no engine noise or exhaust smell was awesome. I plug them in to charge when I’m done with a ride and they are ready to go with a full “tank” for the next time AND I didn’t need to go to the gas station.
I‘m hopeful they figure out the technology sooner than later.

Have the AC Dealer website photos been shared yet? I have a few that show the entire 2024 lineup. 9000/7000 series sleds are in the ProCross chassis for 2024. I thought the 7000's went away?

Is that reading 195hp? If so, that will be a beast on the trail. Power to weight could be incredible!M&M Racing in Norway have alredy buildt turbo on this This is with a little turbo, they are now putting in a bigger turbo and will raice the rpm. This motor has big potensial.

The S4 isn't light @ 590 dry. It gains like 100-ish lbs before adding the turbo or other gear (intercooler, tubes, BOV, etc) over the 850 boost (similar horsepower) and is basically the same chassis.

No more natural gas, all heat has to be electric. So like when Buffalo got buried and there was no power, you can use your electric generator...oh,wait...!!!

The amount I ride an electric sled will not make it past lunch. I bet the fricken battery would crack open and explode when snow hits it.

I saw in another post that the s4 dry weight is almost identical to the sidewinder. Having a hard time believing that. My S4 just arrived last week. I am going to have to weigh it!Yes 195 ,and more will come with a little bigger turbo soon
