i have the same sled and was wondering what length studs you put in yours? i keep hearing so many different things about lengths anything from 1.320 up to 1.875

The Woody's 1.45 size or Stud Boy 1.50 size are the most common and the safest for your tunnel vents. I run 192 Woody's 1.45 Gold Digger studs down the middle on my 2017 LTX SE (all in double backers) and will be doing the same for the 2025 LTX LE that we bought last spring. Plenty of people do run longer studs but there can be more risk of damage to the sled or bent/broken studs. I think the 1.45 (or 1.50 size in Stud Boy) are a happy medium of hookup and long life.

Can you share the stud pattern you used for 192 down the middle? My sled is in for service and they installed 192 studs - an expensive mistake (I asked for a light pattern down the middle for lake safety). I don't need to be at the end of the lake first. Now I'm on the Camso site this morning looking at stud integrated tracks. If they installed studs on the outside, I'm shopping for a new track. I would welcome recommendations here.

I use a CB Performance template. My 192 doen the middle are all in double backers.

If they put studs outside of the windows and you don't want them there, just remove them. The holes won't cause any issues.

I used the woody's pattern and added a second double where the single was. Will see how it works soon I hope.

I hate how the Woody's patterns are always so far from the windows. When I use their patterns, I spread the pattern to have the edges of the backers on the widest rows to be within about 1/4" of the windows.

With the plastic Stud Boy Super Lites never had a problem going Even with the window on the edge of the Big Double backers. Gives you some more scratch lines

I'm not racing so it doesn't bother me too much about the extra scratch lines. I was looking for safe, trail riding mainly. But I do agree with the studs being able to go wider then they are.

Don't waste money on 1.45" studs. No reason you shouldn't put 1.575" in there. Pick your poison for count, but no worries hitting in the tunnel and don't waste your money on tunnel protectors.. Trail riding 144 up the middle are plenty, for minimal stopping on ice 96 or 4 per every other bar will do. Want good traction to line up and beat your buddies put 4 every bar. You won't break or bend mega bites. If you hit a tree stump you might have a pull through, but other than that they are the most durable studs.
Are you saying that 1.575 studs can be run without issue with just the rear Yamaha glue-in heat exchanger protectors and leaving 1"-1.5" of open space between studs in the middle of the track? I have installed 1.45 studs in the tracks of the last 2 Sidewinder LTX sleds but I am considering 1.575 for the one we should be picking up soon.

I have run 1.575 for two years now and have not installed any heat exchanger protectors anywhere. You just have to make sure you run your track snug and don’t allow it to balloon. And Iam not saying to run it overtight and cause the unwanted drag on suspension…

I've never seen any contact anywhere in the tunnel without running any protectors with the 1.575 Mega Bites in the last few years on 5 Winders in our group and 1.74" Mega Bites in my XTX LE which I did notice a good amount of track stretch on that 146" after an 8 day trip. It was a bit loose for my liking and still zero sign of contact. Obviously everybody has to make their own decision on omitting the protectors, but as long as the track is tight and this means tighter than Yamaha specs there is no clearance issues.

I run an 1.25" x 137" track with 1.64 Roetin Hornets which extend close to 3/4" over lug and nothing hits anywhere. As others are saying just keep track snug (not tight) and everything is fine.

For $90 I’ll take the piece of mind and install the protectors.
I’ve spent more on less.

1.86 studs will just tick the louvers under exhaust and the rear tunnel seam to front tunnel if track is hanging from rails.
Track needs to not sag off rails when lifted on stand.
