2035 miles on factory belt

I should be over 2000 tomorrow. Belt still sitting high where I adjusted it last year.
Looks like new, little belt dust. No tunes.
Been pretty much turn key and go.

When you changing it, when it blows or are you waiting to get a trophy or something? Thin ?[/QUOTE
Usually the ones that get huge miles on a belt are cruisers. Come follow me and we'll see how long it lasts.

I am by no means a sled master mechanic. Do we have a set time to change belts? Mine looks good and when my dealer went through my sled at 2600 miles he said belt looked great, cleaned clutches and out the door for more. I will ask him his opinion this weekend but is there a window that a belt should be changed?

Not a mechanic either. IMO no, especially if your sled does not have a history of blowing belts. If you start feeling a shudder then consider changing it.

I would disagree with the cruisers statement. I never see anyone in my rear view mirror unless I am stopped. But I don't just whip the crap out of the throttle like a fool either. Not the fastest rider on the planet, far from a pro, but I have not ridden in a single group where I couldn't draft the lead rider. So I have been giving this sled a pretty good workout in its 3200 miles. And I am happy with the results. It stinks that others are having belt problems, but it is not every Sidewinder.

I will probably blow a belt on Saturday morning, but that is Murphy's Law.

2026 miles. Have not cleaned the area. Appears to be apex like belt life. Looks good to me!

blew my original belt over 4000 mi. was still perfect. was few miles of light ridding and pinned it to maybe 70 or so and that was it. almost didn't realize it was the belt, never heard it. all stock except removed shims behind secondary and compensated on the outside for belt ride. tried to go tighter than stock, but reverse wont have it

Anybody ever measure.? There is a minimum width spec, narrow losing all kinds of performance, oh ya just cruising the belt doesn’t wear, forgot Canadian air is thinner, land is flatter, curvature of the earth, you get higher milage on belt.
Ya 4000 miles on belt and it still looked perfect !!!! Boom it broke how could you tell that it looked good. I just have to bust balls,

It never will get to the top either. The faces touch and limit the travel, not the spring.

Mmh that kinda sucks. So is there overdrive on this clutch or not? It almost looks like there is not much overdrive going on.

I’m gonna be honest usually I would have tested/researched this stuff a bit more. But this sled I left alone for the most part.

You can machine faces a little bit to get that extra OD. So it closes more.
