Had hurricanes 240 stock exhaust tune put in this fall, love it so far. Question I have is what are you guy seeing work best for helix on these. I ride corner to corner with few straights in between. Currently I am running dalton stock primary with dalton weight 1 small screw at heal, 38 straight helix with dalton b bronze secondary at 6-1. Seems to come out hard, incredible mid range, but up top it stalls a bit. Today we crossed lake a blew first belt with tune. Rider error. Held to long, breaking trail, few thousand ft. The poo 850 could stay with me up top. I run storm track though too, slows it a bit, like a wind mill. Alright back to clutch advice, lol.

You say Dalton stock primary? explain because stock primary is not Dalton

If you're running a 38 in the secondary with the 240 you need more spring in the secondary. You're losing top because you're not gripping the belt up top. How much do your Arms weigh now?

Sorry bout that dalton black bronze primary and black orange secondary springs. Qay70 weights with smallest set screen in heal rest empty. The springs are dalton's equivelent to stock

Is the stock 35 where everyone seems to be using

38 is great, just saying your're slipping if you're not getting top end. if your rpm is good the secondary is slipping. Is your RPM holding up top?

Something is wrong here if an 850 is keeping up.
I finally had the chance today to put some miles on my buds 17 that I installed the TD ecotrail tune on. Machine is otherwise stock.
Clutching is the 19 specs, except we left the heavy rivet in the end hole. Machine revs 85-8700, and toys with 850's. They can be ten lengths ahead, it reels them in in no time and keeps distancing itself.
I see no sense in spending money on aftermarket clutch parts with any tune 250hp and under for trail riding.

Wow thats messed up. Run DTYA-1 empty or load the 70's up to 75G all in the tip or close to that 75 G. Should be fine with the 38 and Dalton Black/Orange in secondary, but wrap it up a bit more. Old style spring wrap it up at 80, if its new style one to 90 on that 240 tune.

You blew a belt as you have no grip there at all the way you had it setup. You should be WASTING that 850 hardcore. 70 G is a setup for a stock sled. About 72 in tip for 225 tune. 240 about 74.5- 75G. 270 about 78-79 G. 290 80-82 G. All dependent on belt and secondary setup. You have to run heavier than the Black/Orange in the driven on the 270 and 290 tunes. EPI purple, Cat sno-pro green or Dalton White, All Cat secondary springs to keep a hold on the belt in the secondary on the bigger tunes.

I don't know if i'd go that far. If it's one of the early spool tunes you're going to need some parts to hold the belt

Yep, I was following an new Pol 850 today on my 19 ltx. I was set on the 250 tune and still had the stock clutch setup which is a little light. He could be a bus length ahead and I could reel him in with ease and easily pass him.

Wrapping spring tighter mostly effects engagement or backshift, correct. Doesn't do much for full shift belt sqeeze.

Knapp i had the Fan installed today and as far as i could tell it didn't do #*$&@ to hold the temps down on the clutch. I can still hold any part of the clutch indefinitely, but it was not cool by any stretch. Going to the 8DN tomorrow.
