7800mi Service 16 Jackshaft upgrade and Driver/Shaft change 2017 Shaft/Bearing info

Will it really work with a 6206 bearing? With the flex in the chassi?

I guess it's the same new 6206 bearing and secondary shaft in the Sidewinder.

We will soon find out. Remember with the change to clips in the 16 setup there is give in the shaft to bearing (it can slide) vs the locking collar setup on the previous years.

Cannondale would you recommend upgrading to the 2016 setup or would you just replace the bearings with the good ones Mr Sled found? Im going to go through all of my bearing this year and if its worth it to change out to the 2016 setup i'm already going to be in there so why not.

I did the 16 upgrade because mine was due for new bearings and I wanted to upgrade the shaft because of the wear seen on others splines and bearings. My shaft had slight wear when I changed gears season before. This time it had not wore anymore at all. But I didn't have to mess with clutch side bearing since shaft comes with it on already so yes at 8000mi I would do it again IF the 17 parts are not interchangeable. None of us know that yet. Every year the reliability of the Cat/Yamaha chaincase and shafts has gotten better. Price isn't bad either.

For me at 4500 mi. For now,I replaced all 4 bearings with Fag's bearings. Waiting if 2017 shaft with 6206 bearings will fit and probably doing the upgrade next year

Actually PEER bearings is not bad.
I have done some research this summer and the Swedish SKF took over PEER bearings in 2007, so now it's really good quality of the bearings from the PEER factory in China.

SKF bearings have always been of the highest quality and often use in swedish Volvo cars. My opinium is that the german FAG not are the key. Somethings else cause the problems. Maybe the locking collar and chain tension? A person I talk with told that if using locking collar system its important to tight the nut exactly.

Sorry for my bad english.. :dunno:

If gonna use locking collar system.

Maybe some of the bearing problem is wrong tightening of the nut? Right angle is important

Very good to know....I have better comprehension that what Cannondale told me a few post before
