Has anyone put the 17 shaft and bearing in with a 4mm spacer and run it on a 14 or 15?

I’m using the SKF 2206K-C3 held up fine for 2000 miles so far.

I put a 17 shaft with all different gearing and ran it for 2000 miles. no issues at all but always did my yearly maintenance so no problems. When I leave for a good long trip I never worry about chain case issues. I also did yearly maintenance on my Apex and all other yamahas. And nothing was perfect.

Did you use a spacer between snap ring and bearing? If so what did you use?

You have to align the gears. Straight edge the gears.

So, I've been collecting parts for a couple of weeks now to replace my upper gear and jackshaft. I'm still waiting for a c-clip and a couple of thrust washers. My question is, should I pull the secondary side brace off, press the bearing into it, then press the shaft in and assemble from that side?
Or should I put the upper bearing into the chaincase, slide the shaft in, and then drive the bearing onto the shaft and into the secondary brace at the same time? It seems like it would take a lot of force...
I just read this whole thread, and I have a headache over part numbers!
My shaft has been superseded into one that has a wobble bearing held by a c-clip. Seems like it should work....

I think I'm still going to be short one circlip. There seems to be one on either side of the upper gear outside of the washers. Would I be able to source one at a bearing store? The dealer is taking a little too long for my liking.Press it all together then install.
Yes. The look to be standard size clips.I think I'm still going to be short one circlip. There seems to be one on either side of the upper gear outside of the washers. Would I be able to source one at a bearing store? The dealer is taking a little too long for my liking.

ZR 7000 is the same as Viper order your parts from Country Cat you will have them in 1 to 2 day's max. Power Sports 1 or Port Yamaha will also ship right to your house. A lot of times you local dealer will wait until they have a larger order before they place an order to Yamaha.

Switched everything over on my 2014 Viper to the 2016 setup. Used bearing/housing/shaft full assembly and chaincase side went with "non-wobble bearing". Chaincase side still looking great, but lost the bearing this past weekend over by the secondary. Seals blown off, bearing started to destroy itself, signs of very high heat on shaft near the bearing. I want to order the '16 setup again (replace housing and bearing at least), hoping shaft isn't bent... but will order anyway. Anyone else have this bearing go out with only 800 miles on (or similar)? I believe I'm running the same setup Cannondale eventually went with. Looking for any feedback. Thanks.

Are you saying you blew out the bearing that comes mounted on the shaft with the housing arm? I have two Vipers that both have 12000km on them and that bearing was almost perfect in both. One I did the new shaft (14) and the 16 I pressed the shaft out of the bearing and then the bearing out of the arm. My brake caliper bearings were both in good shape but had a really fine tick to them if you felt carefully while turning.

Yes. Original bearing went around 4K miles last year. Upgraded all to the 2016 shaft/bearing/housing. Replaced gear and bushing (all washers, seals, etc) on the chaincase side as well. No issues on chaincase side, only the Jack shaft bearing behind the secondary clutch just went out after 1,000 miles this year. No issues at brake calipers.
