I have over 1600km[1000miles] using an 8DN belt on my Hurricane 240 SM flashed 2019XTX-LE. I also have a Razor belt temp gage on the sled. I have done a combination of trail riding, open lake breaking trail, towing the ice fishing sleigh,
numerous long wide open runs as well as occasional day of drag racing.
So far the 8DN belt has performed flawlessly, no signs of belt slippage , virtually no belt dust and belt width is well within specs.
The highest belt temp I have seen is 190F, well within acceptable limits, but normally it runs around 140F.
When I was testing the 8DN against the 8JP on GPS the 8DN was 3 mph slower then the 8JP, same day same conditions and run.
For me I see no reason to use anything other then the 8DN, durable, proven, and inexpensive.

Did you tap the rev limiter on both belts?I have over 1600km[1000miles] using an 8DN belt on my Hurricane 240 SM flashed 2019XTX-LE. I also have a Razor belt temp gage on the sled. I have done a combination of trail riding, open lake breaking trail, towing the ice fishing sleigh,

No...I am clutched for 8700-8800 RPM.
I am geared for 115 mph at 1:1 ratio..8JP ran 115mph max out...8DN ran 112mph
This is with the 2019 X-TX LE with 1.75 track

8dn is a damn good belt. Best bargain for trail riding. Straight up beating a belt this is it. I ran one for a few thousand miles and yes it’s slightly slower up top. SLIGHTLY

Isn’t matching necessary to run the 8DN?

This has been covered lots on the forum but basically...the 8DN belt is longer then the 8JP so you must adjust the belt deflection with your secondary to take up the slack. The top of the 8DN belt will sit 1/8" tp 3/16" above the secondary sheaves when deflection is adjusted properly. Once the deflection is set you just adjust your primary setup to your desired RPM.

I guess I'm just wondering as to how you would exactly know the difference if you didn't, for example, tap the limiter. How do you know you shifted to the same amount each pull.No...I am clutched for 8700-8800 RPM.

I do think 3mph sounds about right though.

Conditions were good...I just let the sled max out on speed with both belts. It didn't want to pull the the same peak mph with the 8DN but close enough for me.
If I was still doing radar runs I would be running the 8JP

Have you upgraded the bov with the 240 sm, I have hurricane quiet trail muffler going on and 270 tune, probably will need bov, as far as belts go 8dn is the grippiest, most durable for the $$Conditions were good...I just let the sled max out on speed with both belts. 8dn is the toughest belt to break IMO. Time for a clutch adjustment 74nitro!
