Just curious for those who have made the swap from the viper belt to the 8dn when was shimming the clutches to fit the belt was their a common shim combination answer for this switch or just a lot of messing around with the clutches to make it work... Thanks

I needed 1mm behind each of the 3 bolts on the back side of the secondary. I think that works for most. Likely no more than 1.5mm. This is in addition to the 1mm shim already there. Once the ribs of the top of the belt are just above the sheave the belt deflection is pretty close to good. Doesn't really count as a lot of messing around to me. 10 minutes tops if you haven't done it before. Loop the belt around the secondary before bolting it back on to check height, you'll know right away if your good or not.Just curious for those who have made the swap from the viper belt to the 8dn when was shimming the clutches to fit the belt was their a common shim combination answer for this switch or just a lot of messing around with the clutches to make it work... I hate to say this because the benefits of 8DN are so great but if you hear any squealing or opposite harsher takeoff your belt height is wrong. It is important to get it just right. Greatly affects run quality and driveability at slow speed and engagement. Do one thing at a time and take note of the idle and engagement before making the switch just to compare.

I posted my suggested shim list here:

I learned from Ulmer to adjust based on creep and feel rather than height.

I used OSP belt adjuster with float. It works very good, no complaints so far

I have the OSP adjuster also but with the secondary machined and the bolts out of the back I have the adjuster backed off and still no creep. It does make the belt change easier than trying to push the helix by hand.I used OSP belt adjuster with float. It works very good, no complaints so far
