Aggresive trail setup- please help.

If looking for handling put the transfer block on 3 and buy new skiis. Play with the front pressure 5 psi at a time you will find a point where it works. For me its about 55 psi but I only wiegh 145. Its been jumped plenty though.Above all remember with the cold winter we have had and maybe you the trails are all powder. Any sled is going to push in powder if your buddies are pulling from you then it is a issue.

I ended up tightening up the limiting straps 2 holes, so now I'm in the middle. Front rear shock was loosened up 3-4 turns, this really helped the sled out over the smaller bumps as most of the harshness is now gone. (I'm 180lbs). Front shocks moved up to 70 lbs and it's much better in high speed turning. Still has the push but no where near as bad. I think my next step is to order some 8 or 10" carbides and see how much better big singles are than the 6" duallys.

Thanks for all the tips, the sled is coming around nicely.

650 miles on the sled now :-)

Is 80-90mph all this sled has in stock form? I've been interested in this sled and figured I'd check over here on how everyone's doing with them. Although 90 mph is more than enough for most trails I'd want more available.

160 miles on it 98 mph 8900 rpm short run not the greatest condition . Week ago 83 mph 8600 rpm .

Went for an 85 mile ride today with very rough trail conditions. I love the viper but sad to say I haven't been real satisfied when trails get rough. Thought the sled was handling good with the setup I had but after today it's not looking that way. As of now, front shocks at 70 pounds. Rear shock at 4 turns loose from stock setting and rear triangles on softest setting. I weigh 230 and didn't feel the sled bottom out at all today but it rode like a brick. Am I missing some here? Got very tired of seeing skidoo guys just sitting down flying thru the trails while I was standing up and working real hard to maintain a decent speed

That's kind or weird, because like I said my front shocks are at 95 psi and I tightened my front skid shock about five or six treads away from as far as I can go and my blocks are at the hardest setting and in rough trails to really rough trails this thing is awesome I can fly through those rough trails. Way better than my Nytro which I could keep up with the best of them. It take bumps and jumps awesome! In fact I want to go up on the psi in my front shocks. I'm 250 dressed and the sled just flat out works for me. Don't get why it doesn't work for you guys? Different riding styles I guess...

I guess my biggest issue was that I am trying to soften up the sled so that it handles the small stuff good, which it does, small choppy bumps don't even exist but on rough stuff it is just a major workout. I am going to put everything back to stock settings for a couple rides and then try stiffening up the sled for a good comparison. Has anyone been on a 2014 skidoo or Polaris yet? How do they perform in the rough trails compared to the viper?

Nope my sled is the same way. Takes the big stuff like a champ haven't bottom it yet in 340 miles. But like you said rides like a brick in studers. Ordered custom axis for the rear from hygear, to bad they are backed up for 3-4 weeks. I wonder how the rtx rides compared to ltx, any one ridden both as I originally was going to get an rtx?

I have rode my buddy's 2013 rush pro r le and I think my Viper takes big rough bumps better. His front end is all over the place and wants to come up to easy. Where as my Viper keeps the front end planted and lifts up when I hit the gas. My other buddy has a 800 ski doo with new KYB rebuilt shocks and he likes how mine feels better than his. It's not the r motion though. Mine handles really good. It took a little work to get it how I wanted but well worth the time. I have over 1000 miles and I really like it! Flat cornering with the Viper. The rush has tons of inside ski lift and the ski doo's front end is to twitchy. I think mine feels more planted and goes where I want it to. Just not used to the brake. It locks up to easy. I use the brake in the corners and still have to get used to that.

With the suspension set so stiff does it feel pretty rough in small bumps like 6-12" choppys. I feel that as of now mine is handling them awesome and big bumps isn't really an issue as far as suspension but it just feels like I get thrown around a lot. Also now my front shocks are set at 70 pounds. I put a ziptie around the shock just to see how much travel it uses and at 65 pounds and 70 pounds there was 1 inch of travel left on the floats. Is 70 pounds just too soft for the front?

Mine feels good through those kind of bumps, as well as big ones and jumping. But I like a rough ride. It doesn't feel choppy or rough though. And if 70 pounds works for you then leave them. Just remember if you put more air in the front you are changing the ride height which in turn will change your set up in the rear. :o|

That's kinda where I'm at now. Like I said small choppys arent even there..big bumps are most definetly there lol. Glad all the suspension stuff on these is easy to adjust and get to. Will try stock rear suspension setup with 75 pounds in the floats and see how that feels. The main thing I'm looking for is to be able to stay sitting on the seat and ride at a decent speed without getting tossed around. I don't mind standing now and then but I don't want to have to stand every time I get to rough trails just so that I don't get tossed around

Soften up front skid shock, comes et like a brick. Ours is set about half way. Front 65 back shock 120.

I'm on an ltx so I don't have the rear float. That is the direction I was headed in softening stuff up and it felt very good past few rides but today with the extremely rough trails I was working very hard all day.
