Always rotate your Clutch CCW to prevent issues when changing clutch parts!!

The timing mark picture isn't very clear, but I don't think you may be on the right mark.

That's a great idea @YukonMP!

Okay so here's where I'm at. We're at TDC and the intake gear is off as shown in the picture. Now how do I go about adjust this?

Edit: I'm noticing as you can see in the picture that the chain does not look like it's seated on the exhaust gear.
I would try to very carefully rotate that intake cam counter clockwise in order to get those teeth to re-engage. Try to hold the exhaust cam while rotating the intake cam. Don't force anything. It looks like that cam is out the distance that the chain has climbed up on the gears. You may get lucky and have it slid back in timing.

What make me wonder is how does the chain climb the gears if the tensioner has come out and locked?
Unless the tensioner is operated by oil pressure only.
A lot of tensioners are oil pressure activated but also lock as they continue to come out.

maybe that tensioner does not have a lock?

I don't think it is that type. It's the threaded tensioner with torsion spring.
I'm thinking he should use a new one. If this is a 2009 Nytro, the part # updates which is sometimes a sign that the party has been improved upon.

I agree with this, lock exaust cam where it is now and try rotate intake ccw to that 1 tooth alignes as long as your mark on mag is still lined up, make sure tensioner is removed first... put zip tie on exhaust cam to hold chain dwn on it.

Oil pressure also. Watch the video at 4 minute mark.

I would try it first without removing the tensioner and see if it falls in. Dont think it would hurt to try. That tensioner is a pain to get out.

Yeah, looks like oil pressure with light spring tension but no ratcheting lock mechanism.
That is probably why it is able to climb that chain on top of the gears. When you spin the motor backwards it looks like it compresses' the tensioner letting the front side of the chain slack.
Don't like that design......one with a ratcheting lock would be better and eliminate the possibility cam chain jumping if the motor spun backwards.

What is the downside to the manual tentioner?

There's a lock mechanism on the tensioner that will only allow it to move in so far.

I would say nothing except the location of that tensioner is a pain to get to.
Does it need constant attention? Or once a year kind of thing?
