AM Shoot Out Results

I'm shocked. The people on this site, can take a bone stock, brand new, unstudded RX1. and whip 8 and 9 hundreds, that have studs, clutch kits, and pipes, and this happens. I don't get it.

Me either.

Buster696...did you get any runs with my airfilter kit?...even an unofficial run?

Also, is it possible that the RX1 used was not broken in? I would love to see the list of things they call the "Dealer Prep Package".

I would be curious to know who were the biggest sponsors for this event this year. Were there Lanes to pick from? Something fishy. Even the #’s for doo is not as good as it should be. I seen and ran against an F-6 and F-7 and I’m not overly impressed when they run on a snow track. (they are fast on ice or grass though) but that’s just because of the much less weight, giving it a winning power to weight ratio. The dealer preped doos should be ahead of all the F-7s no problem (advance timing and all) seen this last season when a well tuned rev took the checkered flag home racing snow 660'.
I do know I got faster Ets last year running a 1.25 track vs the stock finger track. The warrior should have a really good ET (maybe slower speed though) running on snow in ¼ mile.
I also seen a good dealer preped viper go like hell! who worked on them at the shootout?

I wouldn’t take this shootout to the bank yet!

Guys, I gota lay it on the line here... I'm here to tell you that there was no, none, nada testing done for the shootout. The only one that tested was Terry P. from Bender. He had a Viper 1000 and a Stage-3 Turbo. Both of these sleds never hit the grass, snow, etc. I believe they were out at the test track in the early Friday AM because he got rained out along with Big Moose. I also just read a post that his chain-case broke and was unable to run the turbo. Hmmmm….

btw. Until, I am told different the 'dealer-prep' setup. It came from last years sled (Heel-Clickers w/White Spring and I believe a TEAM Roller Clutch). This is also the clutch kit that Bender/Terry sells... :?

So, you be the judge...

Freddie, Big Moose did not test on Thursday. The track had 3" of standing water for most of the track and some places had more... Sorry... I will be testing some more and let you all know what I find out...

Later,

well i said it all summer and fall , it will be very hard to beat a f7 or a rev800 ho . but some of you live in a dream world that have not done any testting , but you all seam to think cause one guy beats a f7 or a rev that all of them will... yes some will and some will not . but if your not on the ball with testing and tune and spending money . guess what .... your not going to beat a f7 f6 or a rev800 ho
thats life.. GET TURBO ....

Honestly why would you expect to beat a sled in its' race strength and not yours. The biggest problem I see is for the Doo 800 H.O. not the RX1 as the RX1 is not considered a drag sled. Believe me the bragging rights mean a lot more to Cat than they do to Corporate Yamaha so they put more effort into these types of programs. I bet you the top guys from the other 3 were all over this shoot out, wanta bet corporate Yamaha didn't even acknowledge it.

Srxxtreme,
I talked to you before about the drag races in northern Ontario. I seen your ETs and speeds for 660' you posted on the message board on TY. You want money? bring your fleet and run all the classes and go home a rich man!(Thats if you can pull off those Ets and pass the tech booth). The F-6-7s were there last season and I don't recall any of them collecting 1st or 2nd place last season. The Rev8s on the other hand were damn strong when setup.
There is a big difference when the F-cats run on snow. Traction is not there strong point and it shows running on snow. I will admit they are unbeatable on grass or ice when they are properly set up for traction and they should be for what they weigh.
I like to toy around in setups, but I'm not what I would call an expert by no means. ( I win some and lose some)I do testing with 2 other friends that have an F-7 and the other with a Rev-6 and you would be surprised how the laws of physics get broke when the F-7 gets beat in 660'.

As far as this shootout goes. Them speeds for the RX-1 or Warrior in 1/4 mile can be acheived in 660'. A slow Viper on sticky wet snow will do better speed in 660' than what this shootout did in 1/4 mile.

If the units of speed were changed from "Miles Per Hour" to "Miles Per Week", I'm sure everyone would see a different light on who's machine is the fastest (ok maybe that was a bash  )

DANO , I might be there at that longlac race if it dont mix with cosdra as my points are more important with cosdra and with northbay radar runs.
but if that race is not on one of those weekends shure i will be there and all my sleds will pass tech they do on the grass and the do on the ice i have no prob passing it at that race in longlac ...
so we will see how the winter gose ...
get me dates

I'm going to say it plain and simple. Big Moose Yamaha and Bender should never be allowed to represent Yamaha at the SHOOTOUT or anywhere else. They are lazy and made minimal effort to prep/test the sleds. On the RX-1, they used a S@$% setup from last year (which ran like crap) and this year it was worse.

If they are afraid of getting wet - - - they should stay home !!!!!!!

I don't live up there anymore, but I'm going to try and make it up for the Feb races.
Yamaha's do well at this event!! and its all on snow-no ice, and no grass!

Well there is another way of looking at these results! When us Warrior and RX-1 owners run into the Cats out on the trails or lakes with there inflated egos, and them being confident that they will be giving us a pasting! They could be in for a RUDE AWAKENING

I agree, I am actually pleased just thinking about all the fun I am going
to have with them. I have beat every Rev 800 HO, and Firecat that I
have raced. The only sleds I had problems with last year were the
non reverse ZR 900s and also had them beat for 1000 ft before they
could get by me. ( I am geared down to 23/38 ) With additional mods
this year should have no problem at all holding them off.

I wonder how they will like the taste of four stroke exhaust
GITTYUP :D It's healthier for them any way
