Another set of hyfax!!!!!!

I have 1400 on mine and they are still good. I think the problem is they wear fast to the line and then stop and some people are changing them thinking they are done and they are just beginning.
 

The first 75% of the hi fax in spots wears out in the first 10% of the sliders life. Strange yes but that's the way it is.

So when you change your sliders prepare to tighten the track soon after. Also you should run your track as loose as possible. run it a loose as you can without ratcheting. This will increase your speed and your hyfax wear.
 
The hyfax wear issue is 100% a Yamaha design problem and NOT a rider error issue. They didn't put the wheel in the right place, could use a larger wheel and/or could really use another wheel on the XTX

What I don't understand is how they couldn't figure it out and fix it before they released the sled in the market. My hyfax wore down to less than 25% in the first 150 miles in UP MI Feb snow. There is no way that they could not have known that it was a problem. I did in less than 48 hours of owning the sled. I had 1000 miles on it in 10 days. Does Yamaha even ride these things before they release them to the market?

Did they make any changes in 2010? Is anyone having the same problems with their 2010 Nytro?

I find it funny that I have to put Ski Doo skis and Polaris idler wheels on my Yamaha to make it work right.

I like my Nytro, but Doo will be my next sled if they don't make some changes for 2011.
 
No changes on 2010...My Hyfax are showing wear after 105miles; However, I have my track real snug because with my mods it ratchets hard if loose.
Need to add a wheel or go to a better Hyfax

Doo????? Then prepare to start buying pistons and jugs.

Buddy of mine has a 09 ETEC, he has gone through 3 hyfax in 800 miles. It's NOT just a Yamaha problem.
 
On my Venture MP, replaced 6 wheels to 5.25" with Doo mounts, fully clipped the track, added two sets of marginal snow wheels in the curve and moved the strap up one hole. Just came back from a ride tonight and after 600 Km since the changes, I have yet to see any wear. This is running on a lot of marginal to no snow conditions (we're above freezing and haven't seen snow in a while), road runs and snowless corn fields. Given that the first set lasted only 600 Km, this is good.

I just added the Yami marginal snow kit. Next time your out look at all the other sleds, they all have wheels at the rail bend...

Me to. I rode over 20km strait on roads(just ice covered, some snow on the banks) Hiperfax works period. If they wore down 1mm I'd be surprised. Best investment made so far. I no longer worry about burning slides.

Take it for what you want. I have read that the Hyfax that last longer, last longer because they are a harder compound. The harder compound cuts down on belt/clip life. So in the end, you may end up replacing track clips instead of a $20 hyfax.

Not by any experience of mine own, just have read that in places.
 
I just put a little over 400 miles on my 09 xtx. Planning a UP trip next week so spent the day looking it over and doing an oil change. I checked the hyfax and at the bend it is down to .5 inch. Manual says minimum is .41 inch. I also put on the yamaha marginal wheel kit prior to ever riding it. Should I change out the hyfax prior to a 8 day UP trip? Where do you purchase Hiperfax?

I've never heard of that. I also read allot of info and feedback on the Hiperfax. Some good some bad. Thanks for your concern but I'll take my chances.
