The old SRX clutch will not work with most of the 4 stroke weights that are being used in today's setups.
The clutch to use is the Apex, RX1, Nytro or Viper 4 stroke clutch with the windows in the spider.

Hi TP, I was just responding to Fast when he stated that SRX's turned 9500, which isn't true.
As far as comparing the clutch, it should be noted also that the four strokes were much thicker in key areas of the sliding sheave compared to the SRX clutch.
The stock SRX's turned a max of 8,800. So you are correct there.... But.....
A lot of SRX racers and tuners turned up their SRX's to spin 9,500, especially the big bore kits.... myself included.

No set screws on that srx clutch on the rollers!Tested an SRX 700 clutch on a 270 SW and the only issue was getting certain weights to swing in the spider , because the SRX spider or 2 stroke clutch does not have the windows in the spider.
In my opinion, if the heavier 4 stroke weights would clear the spider, this clutch to me is just as strong as the Apex style clutch. This is because the parts from an Apex clutch will interchange with an SRX clutch.

No set screws on that srx clutch on the rollers!
Correct, the sidewinder clutches don't have the allen screws for the rollers.
We have a cryogenic washer that keeps the roller pins and bolts from making noise and wearing on the clutch. $5 a set of 3 plus shipping.

Most that are switching over to the previous style clutch are running the small rollers (our 14.8mm) but a lot are buying our 15.8mm rollers also.
Thunder Products Clutching will be keeping previous style clutches on hand, ready to go for this season. Right now, we have 6 clutches on hand.
Thunder Products Clutching can also rebuild your sidewinder clutches, or any clutch.
***** Sidewinder owners, if you blow a belt, please check the rear of your primary to see if your primary clutch is rubbing against the bolts that hold your snubshaft in. Seeing a lot of these lately.*****

How much for the apex clutch? Do they come with new buttons and bushing,
The clutches we have on hand right now will come with all new spyder sliders, new bushings and have the sheaves cleaned up. The clutch will be pretty much like new and balanced within .4 of a gram.
The clutches do not have rollers, weights or springs. We are selling these for $375 US

I've looked over a ton of pictures on Babbitts website and partzilla trying to show these extra set screws on an apex clutch for the spider rollers and can't find what you are referring to. Any pictures of this because I purchased a used Apex clutch and it doesn't have the set screws. Does this mean it's not an Apex clutch?Yes, you will be good to go.
Yes, same primary spring.
The Apex clutch will still have harmonics noise as it is the crank snub shaft...not so much the clutch. But the Apex style clutch has the extra set screws to lock the roller pins from moving and wearing. Or you can put plastic or rubber o-rings to keep the roller pin from moving also.

Item # 15 set screw which is no longer used in the clutches from Yamaha. This photo is from a 2009 APEX
Does it mean it is not a true Apex clutch? No, the newer APEX clutches did not have these set screws either. These set screws were in the older models up to 2010, which still had them. Yamaha removed the set screws in 2011 and up.
