I bought the 162 rails for my Maverick and I don't have any vibrations. I also have a drop and roll but that doesn't affect the driver to rail locations.

Dallas, I have no tip issues and with the stock track(every third window closed) and smaller pitch I don't think you will. With the 3 pitch tracks this should be a problem(as you know). I know it is rubbing on the bottom of the front shock mount, can be corrected but really a non-issue for me.

Hey doo man, I would consider moving that lower shock mount back and up...just trace out where the arc would be and drill a hole there. I added a little extra pre-load on the shock since it probably lost some leverage by moving it back. But I can tell you this....the metal on the rod that the shock is mounted on was worn down about 1/16th of an inch....if that is the case, think what it is doing to the rubber drives on your track!!!

I finally got my M7 skid in this evening. It looks cool! It looks like I could have used a 136" skid. I am barley into the adjustment slots with this 141" skid with about an 1 1/2" hanging below the rails.
I have the front shock as loose as it goes and the rear triangle blocks on the lowest setting and the limiter straps are all the way out too. I'll try it and see how it works shortly.

Lee where's the pics? Trxster, I decided to take out one support by shock mount and press (2) 2-3/4" idlers on it and mount it lower(close to bottom shokc mount). Will keep track off hyfax by the bend and should also get rid of vibration.

Wheels?
Lee, you think you could of gotten away with the 7" wheels in back? What is the shaft size of the rear wheels? Talked to Dave today, he said he sent my skid 3-day select and should get it tomorrow or Monday. Can't wait to get it in there. Any words of wisdom? Thanks!

Pictures huh? I have never posted pictures on here before I'll have to read up on how to do it.
I am amazed at how much room I have left for adjustment. Like I said last night I am barely into the adjustment slots. It looks like I could fit a 159" track (or 162" if I changed drivers) on my sled using this 141" skid easily.
Aaron, words of wisdom huh? Well, I did everything I could on the bench.
I had the Holz torque arm relocation brackets machined at work yesterday morning and brought them home and mounted them while the skid was on the bench. You shouldn't need them machined unless you received a prototype skid like TRXSTER and I.
I mounted my scratchers in the slots just below the plastic tips of the rail and mounted the hooks for them on the front idler wheels.
I swapped all the green idlers for black on the bench and it looks great.
I did all my suspension adjustments on the bench.
I waited to grease the skid until I had it installed because I didn't want to get grease all over me trying to wrestle the skid into the track.
I used a floor jack under the front of the skid to help line up the holes in front and once they were in place I slipped the shims I mention below into place and then I moved the jack to the back to lift the rear of the skid up.
You will need two spacers that go between the front suspension mounts and the tunnel (one on each side) they need to be 3/8 or better yet 7/16 thick. Use aluminum rod if you can to save weight.
You need two 3/8" bolts to mount the front of the skid and two black ones from Arctic Cat for the rear mounts.
Unhook the black plastic blocks from the rails that hold the long rear suspenion springs until you get the skid mounted into the sled. Then set the rear of these springs in the triangular blocks (chose a setting) and then slide the plastic blocks back on (up is marked on them) and horse them to their respective holes on the rails and your about done.
Adjust your track. Run the sled and track slowly and make sure everything is ok and then tighten it down. Put your black covers on the rear wheels and ride it.
How's that for a couple tips?

That's awesome. I totally appreciate it! What about the rear wheels. Will 7's work if their is so much adjustment, and if not what is shaft diameter so I can get some 8's coming. Dealer here are morons and know nothing. Glad it went easy for you. Me on the other hand wasted pretty much an entire afternoon trying to re-gear. Mine supposedly had a 21 tooth gear up top and I was gonna drop 1 tooth to 20. Well, got it all apart and it had a 22 in it. Chain wouldn't work with the 20. Had to go all back together with it stock. Anyways....... Take care!

Aaron, I just noticed you are from Bend. My favorite brewery in the world is there. Dechutes! I love Obsidian Stout. I told my wife that the Black Butte Porter was SO good that I wanted here to enbalm me with it when I croak!
Back to sleds. I took some pictures. let me give it whirl.

Ok, this one shows the adjustment slot. I measured. I have just over 1 1/2" hanging below the rails. It sounds like I should have more sag in the track from what I am reading so there should be even more adjustment.
In the picture prior to this you can see the Holz front torque arm relocation bracket.

Those look good. I can't wait! I am from Bend! Every Monday night in the winter is Deschutes Brewery night. Can't hardly find anywhere to sit. I just noticed you were a QA Super. I was an aircraft mechanic for over 10 years of which a QC inspector with Lockheed-Martin for about 7 years. I miss the aviation industry. Got out of it because it was a little insecure raising a family. I still have my A&P just haven't used it in awhile.
I like the rear brackets you made! They look good. You taken her out yet? Don't know about up there, but we have a ton of snow down here in the mountains. Base is like 150" already at Mt. Bachelor!! Looks like we'll be riding into June pretty easy. Best thing is it is only about 15 minutes from the house here. Later!

Aaron, I don't have much time to respond. I am headed out to try the skid.
Yes, I too have an A & P I haven't used in some time. I worked for PSA (do you remember them Pacific Southwest Airlines). I worked general aviation too but this was the most secure job I could find until the BRAC commision just changed everything.
I gotta run. I'll post more on my impressions.

Thanks for noticing J. The one on the other side was on the right way.
J and I went riding today. Some trail riding, boondocking and a little hill climbing. The snow was DEEP and awesome! The first hill I tried to climb the snow was super deep and I was cutting a trench 3 feet deep. I had to bail out of the climb because MY TRACK WAS RATCHETING AGAIN!
I couldn't believe it! After all the work I have done I was shocked! Between me whinning because of the ratcheting and J whinning because his turbo wasn't working right we were a sorry sight.
Then miraculously J majically fixed his turbo and away we went on our ride.
I adjusted the rear springs from the lightest to the middle position and it feels about right. The front shock is about in the middle as well.
I took another hack at a hill in the deep powder in the dark on the way home. The ratcheting was horrible! I decided to tighten the track a bunch on each side an to try it again. I had J lift the sled and looked like I had about an 1" of sag. I took off into the steep and deep again and this time there was no ratcheting (ok very little). It was amazing to be able to climb a mountain in deep powder without ratcheting. I noticed I was only turning 9,500 to 9,600 RPM while climbing.
I tried the new Yamaha powder skis for the first time today as well. I have to say they rock! They cornered well on the trail. float great in the deep stuff and I didn't miss my Simmon's skis once all day.
That's enough for now
