No doubt its slipping, it will with that stock helix...BBY

Helix has very little to do with this problem. You can chose any helix and spring combo you want when using a MASS adjustable weight. However there are springs/helixs that will work at a optimal level. The Stock Seconday spring is the stiffest Yamaha makes. This is causeing the belt to slip and in turn it's not shiffting out all the way which in turns cause "heat".
You can start with the stock helix and a different secondary spring. I would then change the helix. the Yamaha helixs do not shift as far as a Dalton will.

Jason, I already told him to change the secondary spring, were on top of it. We will tune the primary first, secondary second. That said, in my mind there is no question that his belt is slipping, the correct overall primary to secondary calibrations will eliminate this. He wants to do one step at a time. You and I would have done it slightly different seeing as we already know this based on testing. I gave him lots of setups, and he chose to do it a little different. Thats fine with me, as it will teach alot of folks the correct way to do it. The proof will be in the results...BBY

BBY Do ya think the secondary adjustments will make as big as differance the heavy hitters :? :?: :?:
along with machined sheaves and a helix that will allow the secondary to shift out, absolutely yes, the secondary will make as much of a difference as the HH;s have. Maybe not quite as dramatic, but for sure a big improvement. The key is getting the primary and secondary to work in harmony along with the gearing...BBY
