Terry, Do you have a green secondary spring. If so try it. Like Allen said, your belt is still slipping. What changes did you notice with your RPM with the heavier weight in the primary?...BBY

Hey BBY and Srxspec - No, I don't have a green, you think it needs to be tighter? It ran about 10,000 when I went to the lower percentages, and I noticed it went down a little with the new belt. Now, with it at 90%, it is at 10,200 most of the way down. It really comes out of the hole hard now, but feels like it lets up after 150 ft. Maybe go to a 52/50, or maybe a 54/50 or 52? I am going to mount my camcorder to the handlebar mount, so I can watch the tach better. I used to be able to watch, from take off to end awhile ago, but it's sooo fast out of the hole now. (should be cool to watch on tv too) I know I have to change the primary weights again, to get it up towards the 10,400 range, so I will work on that. I wonder if Ryan would have a green spring?

I would try 52/42 and that should get you up around 10,200-10,400 rpm. I would wrap the secondary at 70% to start out with and then try it at 80% and 90% also (depending on where your rpm is at), but no higher than 90%. Leave your initial angle (52) alone if it's working good on the holeshot (which it seems to be). I wouldn't tighten the secondary any tighter than 90% because of how hard it becomes to open (causing slippage in the secondary). If you need more rpm yet after trying a 52/42 you could try:
1. a 52/40
2. take 1 gram off the tip of each weight and stay with the 52/42 (as long as your secondary isn't slipping).
Also the rx-1 likes to run 10,000 off the line and then work it's way up to 10,200-10,400, let it use it's torque off the starting line! Like I said try not to run the secondary any tighter than 90% though.

Hey Srxspec - Thanks, I will try that. It hooks very hard off of the line, in fact, I was getting better 60 ft. times, than most of the others. I have to call Yamaha, I just looked at my secondary sheave, and there is a 1 inch cluster of porosity on the sheave towards the motor. When it comes to that, I get a little worried. I had a friend of mine, (snowmobile motor in a quad chassis), have a primary blow up, and take part of his hand off. I will send a pic to them tonight.
pro116 - Yes, I do have your silver yet, and I have all the other items of yours labeled and stored in a box. BBY sent a silver also, so I kept his and your parts separate. Are you going to be home sometime this week? I have to run up that way for some other items.

Id like to see you try a straight helix. Like a 47 or 48. SRX's ran straight 47 helixs so see if Ryan has one laying around. I believe its a 8BV71. Allen also has some nice ideas. Just keep working on it, try these setups and take good notes...BBY

I've got a question for you NOS-PRO. What kind of secondary helix are you running? Is it made by Dalton or which company?
Allen its a 52/44 Max Perf helix. Its been cut...BBY

Hey BBY & Srxspec - I got a call from Ryan (pro116) last night, and he has some good stuff we can try. I will be going to his house tomorrow, about 4:30pm. I have a dirt race this Saturday with the quads, not only that, but it looks like rain till Sunday, but am looking for an open spot next week to Great Lakes Dragway, Union Grove, Wis.

NOS-PRO, the 51/37 Advant-edge helix that Ryan has should be the ticket or at least it will be very close. It might be a little bit steep on initial helix angle if you have real good traction, but it will be close!

With that Advantage helix I'd Run the green spring twisted at 60 degrees on your first pass to see if you will suck the belt. Don't worry about your RPM's. When they are low "and they will be" Take some weight out. If your Rpm's fall off in the mid and rise backup on top take weight out of the middle hole.

Hey Srxspec - I will get that one from Ryan tonight. I can't imagine getting this thing to do a 1.40 60 ft., it launches great now at 1.512. I think it will handle the steep angle, I'll just have to keep the rpm's up.

NOS-PRO, just wait until you see how much going to this helix will knock off the total ET! i'm guessing you'll see at least a tenth faster if you have good traction and decent weather. 1.40's in 60' shouldn't be that hard it's just going to take some time to find the right setup, we run 1.40-1.45 on the grass, except on our 1000 SRX we're in the 1.1's!
JT-I think his rpm's will be within 100 rpm of what he needs all the way through! i think the top end will be right on, i'm more worried about the bottom being a little low, but the motor likes to grunt around 10,000 rpm for the first 100 ft or so, then slowly climb to 10,200-10,400.

He's already suffering with a RPM drop in the mid range. The advantage helix's as you know are very aggresivly cut. If I was a betting man he'll see a loss of rpm's. Plus he's going to switch to the Yamha green secondary spring from the Silver. That will also lower his RPM's due to less belt slipage.
