Hey pal, I hope you make a pass or two with out the juice, to see how much difference the k&n's make.
Hey NOS,
I second 1xr's request. I am curious as to performance gains with just the K&N's. Maybe one pass?
thanks

Hey guys - Already ahead of you on that one. I Need to know what they improve also, and will post the results. I plan on 2 runs without and 2 with the bottle.
Hey Allen, I got the 160's in there big guy. I bought the kit from Phil, (RX Warrior) and he had all the jets and filters. Here are a couple of pics.

Hey everyone - Good news and bad news, 9/28/03. 52 degrees, with 70% humidity, and races were cancelled. But we were able to get 4 time runs in.
Last points season race, and guess who came in 12th for the season, out of 48? Cool, Huh!
Any ways, for the long awaited information:
Same setup as last week, (best time was 11.206 @ 111.634mph)
1st run - K&N filters, with Holtzman red springs and 160 mains. (no nitrous) Was way too rich for this temp and humidity. Plugs were sooty black, and it fell on her face, whenever I went full throttle.
1.715 60 ft. 8.212 @ 76.882mph (The rest stunk)
2nd run - Burped the Nitrous to clean up rich condition. Still not a good run. Fell on it's face after 1/8 mile.
1.727 60 ft. 6.818 @ 103.438mph 1/8 mile 10.825 @ 114.435mph 1/4 mile
3rd run - Took filters off to help lean out without changing jetting (no nitrous) Fell on it's face all the way down cause of jetting.
1.614 60 ft. 7.798 @ 80.058mph 1/8 mile 12.988 @ 90.756mph 1/4 mile
4th run - No filters, and added weight to the HH's (setup was 7/16 middle and tip, with 2 thin and 1 thick washer in middle and tip) Engaged the Nitrous after the 60 ft., and broke the track loose, let off and engaged again, 3/4 way down the track, I let off again, due to bottle pressure drop. Here is the results...........................are you ready?
1.533 60 ft. 6.496 @ 104.260mph 1/8 mile 10.441 @ 118.821mph 1/4
That is .765 better than my best run last week! And this is only 48 horse!
Not bad for a non-full nitrous run. The red springs work real well with the K&N's, just had the wrong jetting. We are done for Kaukauna, but Great Lakes Dragway will be open for another month, and will make 1 or 2 trips there yet. If you would do the math: my best 60ft. was 1.483, and a good full nitrous run without letting off, and a 100 lb. lighter driver? 9's? Definelty 10.0's!

Hey guys, I just wated to let you guys know, that if you change your jetting, to not get the jets confused with the powerjet jets. They are right next to the main jet. I changed the power jet to a 160 from 75, and the pilot jet. The main jet stayed the same at 135. I had the biggest bog in the mid range. I was going to change jets to a 145 main, to lean it out a little, when I saw I took out 75's! I never gave it a thought, and do I feel STUPID. But, think of it this way, I ran a 10.441 with this setup on asphalt. what will it do now? Just letting you guys know the jets are exactly the same in size, so don't mess them up like I did.
I can't believe I did that!
I will be at the track tomorrow, for some good runs with jetting now. And have the filters back on it also. Ran good in the driveway, so should turn some good times.
Also, wanted to say hi to the guys at Yamaha, in Estherville, Iowa. Had the jets I needed on hand, and made me very welcome. Thanks guys!

Hey everyone - I went to the track tuesday, the 7th, for my last time out, before I tear down. Here are the results.
weather was 68Degrees, with a humidity of 58%. After doing the correct jetting, from my mishap, the sled runs very strong, and throttle response is awesome! Red springs from holtzman, and K&N's, same clutching, belt, gearing as last time out.
best run - (No nitrous), K&N filters, and 160 mains for jetting.
1.514 60 ft. 6.918 @ 95.39mph 1/8 mile 11.066 @ 112.55mph
results - .14 better than stock air box.
best run - Nitrous, with K&N filters, and jetting.
1.498 60 ft. 6.442 @ 105.28mph 1/8 mile 10.317 @ 122.83mph
Best mph was on another run, when I tried to hit the nitrous off the line, but almost took out the 330 ft. timer, and had to let off.
1.494 60 ft. 6.537 @ 104.96mph 1/8 mile 10.402 @ 123.45mph
All in all, I had a wheel bearing crap out on me, and that scared me. Also had a bottle pressure disc blow off in the trailer, while warming the bottle. Got yelled at to put my leathers on after the 122.83 mph run, but that was a good feeling yelling.
I hope you have been checking on the posts once in awhile, and for all that have contributed, we all made one hell of a rocket out of something that only ran a 12.78 bone stock, and I thank everyone who stayed involved. I can't believe the season is over  , but what the hell, BRING ON THE SNOW! I will do a rating of all improvements, and the results in a couple of days. If anyone could burn me a copy of this section, please let me know, for my good computer hasn't come back yet.

Terry did you run a 10.98 with the stock air box and green springs? Did you run a 23 gear to go 123 mph, if you did a 22 gear would be plenty for 115 mph. I also thought you run 11 ones with the air box. I'm waundering if the k&n's are worth the money.
