At 11,100 and 128 mph, you would be at 5% overdrive. If your 135 mph was accurate (just how did you come up with that figure), you would be in the 10-11% overdrive range. Some guys like running OD, others don't. I run it.
Think you may be perfect or close to it on gearing the way the sled is set-up. If you get your 60ft times down, the et will drop... and so will your mph. Therefore in the future there may be potential to run slightly lower gearing on NOS. For instance if your target mph was say 126 mph, you could run a 39 bottom and be at about 6% overdrive at 11,100. However, the skid has to be able to take the lower gearing... so until that is sorted out, I'd leave it alone.
Off NOS... you could potentially go to a 23 top or 40 bottom... but you still have to get the skid sorted out first.

I am geared 24/38 right now cause I ran out of gear with the bottle on with 23/38.
23/38 works great without the bottle.

135 is a little bit of a guess. I have one tooth ground off the pick-up. I hit the 1/4mile trap and my speedo said 132-133 mph. My track ticket said 128 mph. (In fact, I have another ticket @127.92 mph and my speedo said 132 at the finish line). On a different run, I passed through the trap, held onto the button and throttle, I ran it up to 140 on the speedo and then let off. I just wanted to see if I could get 140 on the speedo. I'm guessing 140 on the speedo is about equal to 134 or 135 based on that.
I don't have my primary machined or anything. I do have a lot of tip weight and a custom cut helix. Also, my RPM may have been realllllly close to 11,200. My data recorder requires one full second to record max RPM.

Allen or some of the other guys will be better off to advise you what percentage of OD can be achieved. I use 5% as a rule of thumb, but as you know you can get more. However, as you push up the RPM, the clutches become less effecient, and there is less HP going to the track as soon as you start using OD. At some point in time there is a negative effect.
I am pleasantly surprised you are getting that kind of OD without machining the primary. Are you running the DN belt or something a little wider that will give you the same benefits as a machined primary?

I am running a stock belt. I'm not exactly sure what is happening. I think Terry gets 133 - 135 out of his Apex. I'm not sure if he has his primary cut???? I do know that it looks like my belt is riding pretty high in the primary based upon the groove I can see after I scuff it up.

I have switched this year to the XS805. So far I like it... although I have not run the belts back to back for comparision. The biggest difference is the amount of grip & length. I think it is going to work very well for racing... but you need to get the added track HP to the ground.
As far as mph... Terry will lets us know, but I thought he was running 126-127 before he went back to NA last year. Those may not have been his best runs though.

Stick with the stock gearing, espically for the nos. Get your suspension to react better and you'll feel it pull harder (better 60' and 1/8 mi times). Once you get the suspension close, then play with your engagement.

No machining to clutches, stock 8DN belt, Ulmer stage 2 clutching, 24/38 gearing. Best pass to date is a 9.72 @ 131mph on asphalt, and 132mph on radar run.
Dam Terry, you got me by 1/100th of a second!!!!!! Watch out this year once I get that walh brothers skid tuned up

Hey Don, give it time, and you will be crank'in on the pavement. Take baby steps when making changes, as too many changes can hurt you, and then you don't know what change hurt you the most.
Guys, I had everything set to go on Friday for the sled shootout at Great Lakes Dragaway, when I received a call at work about 6:35 am. My wife was t-boned by a guy who ran a red light, sent my wife and her passenger to the hospital, and totalled out our new Hyundai Sonanta. She just dropped off the kids at daycare 2 minutes before the crash. All I can say is, thank god for side impact air bags! The doctors told us she would have had a broken shoulder, broken arm, and possibly have had her head go thru the side window if it wasn't for the airbag. The guy told the police, "He had his head up his a$$" so I think this will be an easy argument to win. My wife is hobbling around with a sore knee from the shift column, burns from the door pillar and airbag going off, and will possibly go to work today without crutches. Well, out a new car, but that is only a material thing, as my wife means the world to me.
Give your family a hug everyday, cause anything can happen in a blink of an eye...

Was a long day at the track yesterday. Got there at 9 AM and unloaded for time trials when it started to pour and hail! Sat there until 3:30 PM when we finally got our first time trial run. I'll post results later on tonight when I get a chance.

Very, very glad to hear they are OK Terry.
There was a similar type accident up here on the weekend where a mother pulled out of a driveway (with her 1 and 4 year old in the back seat). She didn't see the other vehicle coming... both vehicles written off and the jaws of life used. Drivers were taken to hospital with minor injuries. Both kids... perfectly OK.

Like I said rain in the morning for about 2 hours before it cleared off and it took another 3 hours to get the track dried out! Traction was actually better than I thought it would be with minimal prep and lack of real big rubber cars running! They cut us down to only 2 time trials.
All settings were the same as my last 10.878 pass a few weeks ago the air was close to the same as well with just a slightly stronger head wind.
Time Trial 1 (Air was 87*F and 56% humidity for corrected altitude of 4700 feet).
60: 1.475
660: 6.795
MPH: 97.548
1/4: 10.943
MPH: 115.526
Time Trial 2 (Air was identical to time trial 1).
60: 1.472
660: 6.779
MPH: 97.811
1/4: 10.927
MPH: 115.649
Elimination Round 1 (Air identical to above).
60: 1.485
660: 6.793
MPH: 98.062
1/4: 10.935
MPH: 115.919
I dialed in at 10.92 (so was .015 slow to my dial) but lit up the big old red light so I threw it away right at the starting line!
