Asphalt results 2016

Sunday May 1st, conditions were not good to say the least..... horrible for traction as it rained the whole night before this race and was still raining/drizzling which delayed time runs.

Shagman had issues with overboosting and couldn't figure out what was wrong. After the 2nd failed time run where he shut down early....he found the fitting for the boost valve missing. It was in the bellypan and with this missing, it turns up to full boost right away. He made another time run in the low tens....but traction was still an issue. He redlighted 1st round of eliminations.

I had my sled running pretty good as I had the autotune on for my fuel controller. I ran an 11.26 with a horrble 60 ft. of 1.5xx something. For my 2nd time run I shut the autotune off and just ran 0's in my map so that would be like running straight thru what my flashed ECU is running....correct? Don't know but I did run a quicker 2nd time run at 11.20 @ 110mph, but still spun off of the line. But when it came to 1st round, the sled coughed at the line and I had a terrrible reaction time. Lost round 1

What to do....what to do.... Last season for the last race of the year, I raced without the fuel controller and had the EVO flash. The sled ran so smooth and so fast...... I hope the fuel controller isn't messing things up.
 
5/14/16 Summit Super Series. 40°, cold, windy as a MF and snowflakes coming down.

I left the Viper at home and ran the SRX because I am trying to figure out things with the PCV. Hopefully something stupidly simple.

Tim had some good runs and made ground with the major headwind we had. He's clicking the 9 second barrier now, still spinning and hitting the rev limiter....but making huge headway.

I ran the SRX and even tho I was still spinning with 1.3xx's for 60 ft. times, my best time was a 9.42 @ 134mph. Made it past 1st round, only to redlight in the second round. This SRX sled is crazy fast and so happy I put the chute on it for safety.

Want to send our "get well" vibes to a very good racer, Mark Netteshim who's engine locked up on his pro-bike and lost control over 120-130mph at the finish line. Latest we heard from the officials he was bruised and somewhat bloody, but only a broken toe. This is why I am so concerned with safety with my racing and the family of racers I compete against. We never want to see this happen to anyone, but if it does.....the safety equipment will help the racer from being more injured.

Yup, ARS-TV gets the track going as they open at 10am, but start running stuff down the track at noon. That goes till 5pm, but then the RSD takes over and runs 5-11pm. So, for 11 hours you can run as many time runs as you can for $50

If you just do the ARS-TV, it's like $35 and then the RSD is another $35 I think. But if you stay the whole time you get the discounted price of $50 for both. Weather is supposed to be awesome so if you can make it bud....be great to see ya!

Friday, Union Grove 5-20-16
74°, overcast with some sun, headwind of 15mph

This past weekend was crazy busy with Shagman and I at the track. All I can say is it was fun....but I didn't get anywhere positive with my Viper. Tim did good and without the headwind....he would have been in the 9's easy. Threw everything I could at my Viper, only to end up staying right around the 11.20 margin. Had a lot of problems with my TORS and will be bringing it in for warranty on the throttle assembly. Thought it was my fuel controller or module doing the hiccups and stumbling, but it was my TORS the whole time. Disconnected the fuel controller/module and it still did it. I made 14 runs on Friday in about 6 hours. Could have made a ton more but was not happy with the throttle BS going on. My times were so consistent tho, I could have left an 11.22 on the sled all day and made tons of money if there was racing.Shag and I left 4-5 hours early to race at WIR on Saturday.

Saturday, Wisconsin International Raceway 5-21-16
Sunny and hot.... 78-80°

Best run between both days was an 11.19 on the Viper....but hiccuped so bad on the starting line, was lucky to have my opponent break out more than I did. Lost in the semi-finals because I was once again fu*ked out of my "bye" run... (4th time now this year). I am not a happy camper and I let the tower know when I picked up my race money. Not going to get into it as my blood pressure is already racing while typing.....2 words - "Competition Bye"

Shag and I did pretty good until I had to race Shag. Shagman cut a better light than I did and was the closest race of the night. 2 Yamaha Vipers very close with a NOS-PRO win margin of .0153

2nd week in a row that someone was hurt at the track. A Pro Stock car crossed the finish line, got sideways and rolled the car 8-10 times. I was in the tower doing some paperwork when I saw it. There was nothing left to the car but an engine, cut up roll cage from EMT and 3 tires. Only useful thing is the fire extinguisher. There are pics on the internet but I choose to not share in respect for the driver. He was taken to the hospital with minor injuries. I can't express enough how important it is to check your race vehicle and wear protective clothing.

Been some rainouts and off weekends bud......no racing because of stock car events.

Getting ready to race tomorrow, should be a nice day..... very HOT and humid, but no rain.
 
Saturday, June 18th... Coor's Light Nostalgia Nationals! Lots of sun with temps in the 80's/90's, very muggy and humid with huge headwinds made for a real challenge getting down the track, staying hydrated and keeping the sled (and myself) cool.

Found my problem with the Viper....it's the TORS switch. New one is here....but didn't have time to install so I raced the SRX. This has been my problem all year to date with the poor reaction times, bogging and popping off of the line to even screwing up the fuel controller because it wouldn't make contact. Will be testing the new throttle this week.

All my runs were spinning off the line, but spinning consistently between 9.71-9.74 so I went with a 9.69 dial-in so I could run out the back door and not break out. Most of my runs of the night I had much better reaction times so I lifted anyway (you never know...right @DIALIN43 ?)

The Quick 8 I was able to get the final sponsor money Saturday morning, banners were picked up Friday evening and got the ok from the track that the Quick 8 Bikes/Sleds will be at the beginning of the show.

The SRX not only won the Quick 8 Bikes/Sleds class, but it also won the Pro Bike/Sled class! Big day for the SRX! :)
 
Congrats. The SRX still remains one of my favorite yammies. Also, glad you found the problem with the Viper. Hopefully, you will be able to really get that going now too. Good luck.
