Asphalt Results 2005

Well guys, I finally made the 9 second club this weekend. Ran test and tune on Saturday and the air was good, and hookup was not bad either. After a 10.57 pass I ran a get this 10.0000 pass at 128.52mph, ya just can’t get any closer!!! Then we experimented with some different clutching and didn’t see that again that day. Then Sunday we went back to what we knew worked and ran one 10.0019 at 127.85 and a few more close to that with some launching problems, going left or right, just out of practice I think. The first round I dialed a 10.00 and ran a 10.07, opposition red lighted so off I went to the second round. We had a slight cross wind which I think was causing the sled to go left and I had to lean causing some ET loss, so I dialed a 10.04 on the second round and guess what, &^%* red light. Well can’t blame anyone else but me, I wanted to cut a good light, ya can’t be sleeping when you run the ProET class, so when I saw that, I just ran it out the back door and got my 9.9861 at 127.09mph and to me that was as good as a win. The other guy broke out too but not as much as me.

Anyway, thanks to Bob and Jim Manning (BPE/lakercr) who showed up on Sunday with their turbo’d RX1 for some runs and exchanging tips and lending me a few parts to try out. His sled was running very close to mine at the same boost and theirs has a lot more potential than mine as they can crank his boost higher and just needs to get it hooking up a bit better. Once we were out we swapped clutches to see what would happen but never got a chance to do a test pass, we’re hoping to have another shot at it this coming weekend on the season final. I have a few pictures I’ll try and get uploaded later.

looks good! ;)!

I got rained out this past weekend, and won't be out next weekend either. I guess those 9's are just going to have to wait.

Great job Don!

Thanks guys, how's things Terry?
We've had a few track records since they have done some work, a door slammer street registered car running a 8.26 at 1??mph, Kenny Lang's blown alchohol running a 225mph or so then a Nitro rail (not blown) running a 6.?? at 235mph which was a mph track record. Not sure what the track record is for a snowmobile though. Going to be trying some stuff with the with Bob and Jim Manning of BPE this weekend providing we don't get rained out, either we'll be lower or higher in et's who knows! I know a good tailwind and good air will definitely bring the et’s down.

Hey Don, things were really jumbled up the last 2 or so weeks, with my little guy getting so sick, I had to put everything on hold. I missed the last 3 points races of the year, so I don't think I ended up with a good place in points. Family came 1st this time. Hopefully can get to the track before Martin, Michigan, and will definetly be at Brainerd on the 22nd.

Don, yes, he is o.k., and back to his running, and tackling his older brother self again. We haven't left our 2 boys alone for any amount of time, cause we don't know what we would do without them.

Brainerd, here we come!

Good luck at Brainerd guys. I think I've got one more weekend left for the asphalt. Looks like a test and tune on the 8th and I still haven't made up my mind if I'll be racing on the 9th or not (we'll see what the girl says). Then it's time to get ready for winter.

I see they shortened Martin weekend down to just Saturday. We had lots of plans to get ready for, but think we will call this one, and test and tune here for Brainerd.

Pics from Sept. 24th & 25th at Gimli Motor Sports Park.....final weekend this weekend depending on weather.

Well guys the last weekend at Gimli Motorsports Park and we didn't set any new records. A big thanks to Bob and Jim Manning for letting me try out a bunch of there clutching setups. I had a bog that I couldn't seem to get rid of all weekend and thought it was due to the different clutching setups I was trying but when I went back to my original setup I still had a bog, so I'm not sure what is causing it. I did change where the boost gauge ties in from the end of the carbs to between the two middle ones to try and get the gauge to be more accurate at idle instead of jumping around. I did check to make sure there was no leaks, so I can't see this causing the problem. Once I get past that bog, the thing goes, but I had a hard time dialing it in on Sunday and lost in the first round to my buddy who got knocked out in the second round because he didn't lift early enough and broke out.
Anyway, there's only one thing that I can think of that may be causing the bog and that's weight that I added to the middle of the weights a couple of weeks ago. There seemed to be some hesitation at around 7000rpm, but not a lot, and possible because of different air this weekend it may have become more pronounced. So I’ll probably take those out again and cross my figures that it takes care of it when I do the time trials in Brainerd on the 22nd. Man I wish I had somewhere that I could test launch it!!!!

Don, where are you staying?

I haven't got a room yet, but wanted to know where your staying.

Allen, you still going?
