BACK FIRING BEWARE

My only worry is that something breaks during one of the backfires

Everybody knows my opinion on this issue BUT........ my sled is dialed in and I’ve had 8000 miles of pure fun and smiles along the way.
Rough trails ect, I’ll put my viper against any other on snow and have.
Railroad beds and lakes at 115 mph is boring IMO and not what a viper does.
When I take care of this issue and a will, I’ll buy 10 more because it will handle any abuse I throw at it.
It’s DEFINITELY PROVEN ITS SELF on many occasions.

I just don't get it!!! I own 2 14's and have 2 friends with vipers and none of us have experienced any of the issues people been posting here on ty! All 4 of us are convinced we have great reliable sleds! All of us have well over 6000km on our sleds and no one has any isssues!
My wife would buy another zr 7000 in a heart beat she love's her sled and myself love the chassis but being power hungry the sidewinder is next on the list!

No complaints on mine other that it DOES pop once in awhile while cranking at subzero temperatures. I haven't gotten what I'd call a "muffler blower" but its definitely loading up with fuel and popping. I Never crank more than 5 seconds an attempt and wait a good 10 count before trying again, maybe that's why I only get small pops. Also my Phazer will pop once in a blue moon while cranking during sub zero starts.

Back in 2014 these Vipers had bad mufflers that blew out the sides. There was an upgraded to those in 2015 which should take care of the problem. I'm wondering if the replacement muffler was also the older version that was pron to failure.

I haven’t had the starting issues others have either but they do exist. That’s the problem variability. Heck even saw a post by Turbo Dynamics that they ran into some Mitsubishi/Yamaha Winder ecu that would only accept flash when heated to a certain temp! WTF we making bread here now!

I haven't seen anyone mention the battery voltage maintainer lately. I found it an interesting and inexpensive idea that it would maintain full battery voltage to the ECM while cranking in cold weather. I know that battery voltage drops considerably in severe temps. I believe someone from Sweden mentioned installing this with positive results but haven't heard anything since.
Anybody got anything to update on this?

Had a new Subaru ECU FAIL once it reached 112 degrees on a brand new Crosstrek. Japan electronics lol

I'm in the process of working on an ECU voltage booster but my progress was slowed due to health issues. I have all the parts needed and will hopefully be back on it in the next few weeks.

Just got back from a 900 miles of riding over the weekend there where 9 sleds 6 ski doos 2 Vipers, 1 arctic cat 7000. 2 of them had issues and they weren’t the Yamy Cats. And for a stock Viper it goes fast enough for me

This was on a lake that wash washboard like surface

How are you feeling?

Doing much better Mike. It shouldn't be much longer before I'm back out in the garage tinkering again. Unfortunately I won't be able to make it out on the sleds again this season but I'm looking forward to pulling the Harleys out of storage the first week of April for spring break in Florida.
