Most of the guys i know that have a winder are having better luck with the cat guard for 25 bucks. Not perfect but better.

Right, and if you so desire, just wrap the cat grill with bulk frogskin for next to nothing too. Or, just take the grill right off the machine too.

I have tried the Cat grille and my stock grille. They are both the same in terms of ice build up. Maybe I'll try wrapping one of them in Frogzskin.

Nah. Cat grille only slightly better. Maybe if I put the Frogskinz on it I guess? I will say the snow block is less dense with the Cat grille. That little shelf seems to be the key also. Need to have no shelf at bottom for less snow.

Just run without a grill. Lots of guys doing it.
I’ve found a little snow is actually better than air going thru it anyway. The problem is when it builds an icedam and no snow or air can get to the cooler at all. This is where you want to be able to get rid of the icedam. No guard is best to rid the build up of the icedam.
