Own a 2018 Vector. Never thought of it before but at what kind of mileage would you change the belt.

seen 8dn with 10000 km on it twice. once on 03 rx1 and once more on a late 2000's vector. they both blew on the ride i was on with them.

Just changed the stock factory belt on my 15 Apex XTX with 30,000kms. It was only worn 1/2 the allowable limit. I changed it because I was going on a big trip. I wouldn’t worry too much about it.

It really depends on how you drive.Own a 2018 Vector. Never thought of it before but at what kind of mileage would you change the belt.

My dad could get huge miles out of a belt, but he was a cruiser.
Put me on the same sled and that belt would be lucky to make it to 3000kms.

I just hit 4,100 miles on my original belt on my '15 Apex. I am surprised.
I will likely swap it out regardless during the off season.

5400k so far on my OEM belt on my 11, just swapped the 09 belt at 6k with the spare just for the heck of it.

I used to change my belt every year on my Apex's just to have a fresh one on. 2500 to 3000 miles.
4000 miles EASILY on those sleds ridden HARD! And that's on Apex's.
You should have absolutely NO problems getting a 2000 to 3000 or even 4000 miles on a Vector before changing especially cruising.
I know a guy that changes his vector belts at 10,000.
They are only $55 so changing at beginning of season is the best advice anybody can give you...

It's not a contest to see how many miles you can get out of a belt, but the 8DN on the Apex/Vector will last and last. And you hardly ever hear of blown belts.
I finally trashed one on my Apex last season when I pulled the viper out while my studded track was on frozen dirt. It hooked, and the viper didn't move. The clutches burned a nice low spot in the belt. It had 9700 miles on it! Wouldn't you know I did the same thing this season while stuck, and the track all of a sudden got traction, and burnt a low spot again. GRRRR. Had to replace it with around 2000 miles on it.
Run it till it worries you. As mentioned, $60 each is common. But don't waste them, they get way more miles than other brands that use $200 belts.

I always use the tolerance measurement in the service manual to determine when to replace an otherwise normal looking inspected OEM belt (i.e. not delaminating, no missing cogs, no flat spots, etc). I have over 6500 miles on my 18 Apex XTX and it's still running the factory installed belt but it's getting close to that wear limit. I believe one of the best ways to add longevity to a belt, at least with these 8DN belts, is proper break-in for the first 50-100 miles.

I don't think I've actually worn out a belt, usually I'll notice some cracking between some lugs and change it out. I'm fairly aggressive and ~2500-3000 miles is about my average.
