Blown belts equals blown out plastic

I blew a belt a couple days ago with less than 1000km on sled. I was WOT running close to 9000rpm. Conditions were cold like -30C. When the belt blew it smashed a hole through the plastic. Clutches were a very warm but not hot. I could touch them.

I running TD powertrail with turboforce exhaust and Dalton weights. Hopefully this is a one time affair.

Ang suggestions to avoid this happening. Current belt is 8JP
 
You should install a blown belt guard

Barn of parts have them. There's a few different ones around.
 
TD sells a nice belly pan protector. Heavy duty piece.
 
I just got my belly pan protector from BOP and since I need to take my primary off to make some adjustments can you drill the necessary holes with just the clutch removed? Thanks

I did it with the clutch on. You just need to watch your a arms when you drill through

I did this....see my build thread(SIG below)
 
I've seen bottom of side panel as well as behind protector with holes in them. Perhaps this needs to be re-engineered? Just sayin.
 
What does the belt guard look like?
