I kinda figured the day would finally come and it has, broke my first stock 8jp belt on my 6psi turbo viper. This is the same belt that I put 1800 miles on last year and now about 250 this year. The 250 this year was with different clutch tuning and tons of wot launches so it was a very abused belt. Belt broke right in half and had a lot a lot of rubber chunks. Time to put the ole 8dn back on and run it..but first I have a lot of rubber to clean up! On a side note I have zero belt dust, zero rpm hunting and the sled pulled 9000 rpm spot on no matter if it was 8" of fresh snow or solid hard packed trail.

Are you saying you preferred the 8jp belt, just wondering for my knowledge and thinking out loud for my updates after break in is done, seems most prefer 8dn. Seems you are one of the few running the original belt.

Yes I'm definitely one of the few that still try's the stock belt. Performance wise, the 8jp worked spot on in my sled, it did exactly what it needed to as far as steady rpm and good speeds and awesome pull, but it couldn't handle the added turbo power. It worked great for me last year, but 135 hp and 190ish hp are very different. Only thing with the 8jp that I've noticed is it takes several minutes of riding for it to work properly, seems to me that the belt and clutches need to be run for around 5 mins and be at full operating temp in order for the belt to grip good, I don't notice that with the 8dn. I still have a gates belt that I think I'm gonna try again too and make a final decision between the gates and 8dn.

Interesting, thanks for the input. Seems clutching is very different on similar sleds or just very different opinions.

Same for me as Studroes144. The 8JP worked fine and not enough dust to talk about it. But I switched to the 8DN after 3600km and the clutch temps are cooler, and the fact they ride higher in the secondary make them smoother on take off. So now I have to spare 8JP and will keep running the 8DN, even is the only thing with the 8JP was higher clutch temperature's.
