Don't want to start anything. However, I had an aftermarket exhaust on my Nytro and had all kinds of overheating issues. The day I took it off my light never came on again. If your air/fuel ratio is off (lean side), you'd be surprised what it can do to engine temps.

You have my attention...This is the route I think my dealer will take to possibly avoid fixing something on their dim (I could be wrong) but tell me more please...I have the PC III with Ulmers map and sled never bogs or pops so I figured the set-up was nuts on. Am I wrong? How would I tell if it's lean.
 
let me say it agian I most likely have the same map as you..same header and a slip on...same kn's....same plugs...getting a picture here...I did 20-30 660-1100' runs two times over the last few weekends on a lake and never overheated...the only mod I did to the cooling was diluted and added distilled water and water wetter...
no overheating...
what youre describing sounds like a cooling system problem... its not from free'r flowing exhaust and filters and a fuel ADDER WHICH ADDS MORE FUEL and cannot lean you out...

My sled was completely stock (except for studs). The exhaust was the only modification I did. I did not add a PC III. The sled did the typical "pop" when letting off the gas and had the "slight hesitation" that most speak about when adding an exhaust and it, of course, overheated often. It was obvious that it was lean. As soon as I went back to the stock exhaust, all the issues went away. You might want to try the whole antifreeze dilution and addition of water wetter before taking it off. My findings could be the exception rather than the rule. However, if you ask me, it's the exhaust.

I have all the same mods as sj and have not changed my antifreeze from stock and my sled has never overheated and that is riding like 10-15mph with my 3 year old on it for a few miles at a time. I had the light come on once, when I was idling it on my lift when I was trying to adjust the track. That was it...
 
With the aftermarket exhaust, my sled had more of a tendency to overheat at higher speeds (read: higher RPM). That's when the A/F ratio has a bigger variance than stock. At lower RPMs, the engine is not as lean.

;)! Just heard back from the dealer that the cooling fan #$%&* the bed and is being replaced under warranty. They also said when I changed coolant I air-bound the system and was almost a full liter short on coolant. I'm not sure how I did that or how to avoid doing it again though.

Well, I hope that will be the end of your overheat issue, but I'd still suggest installing the MTX cooler. Just make sure to burp the air out properly next time. ;):D

So raise her nose up 3-5 feet, top the coolant off, start her up to circulate coolant, and repeat top off...Is that correct?
 
Yuppers, that what I did, plus I kind of shook the sled a bit when it was up in the air.

Do you leave the rad cap off while doing this, while trying to bleed the air out or do you fill to the top, run it, then open the cap and top off, cap it, then run it again?
