Calling All Overheaters - UPDATED

I kept the cap on when I did it, probably would create quite a mess with the cap off.

you have to do it with the cap on in order for the system to get up to pressure to force the thermostat open and circulate the air out of the entire cooling system.
 
water temp opens thermostat not pressure. You can run it with cap off & when level drops add coolant that way it doesn't get low to pull air in system just keep adding as it drops :moon:
 
Actually the service manual talks about removing the hose that goes down to the heat exchanger when filling up the coolant. It says that forces the air out. I don't know what to believe now.
 
thats right it does say that hook hose back on top off rad & start it up & add coolant as it drops make sure every thing is to temp by feeling with hand ( heat exchanger , eng. ,rad, ect.) make sure u see coolant moving in rad when it is to temp if u see it moving it should be good & every thing is to the same temp :moon:

I have the day off so I'm going to dump some stock coolant to add some water wetter. Let you know how that goes.
