Not sure what your point is, even Yamaha has those issues. Look up the recall on 2009 Nytros where upper control arms were not tightened correctly at the factory for example. If you have selective memory please do a quick look back at all the issues Yamaha has had. The difference between Yamaha and others though is Yamaha covers there warranty issues.
my point is ...the procross driveline was going to be a problem and is....I suggest if you have suggestive memory you use the search option for my posts prior to spring surge last year...and having owned and wrenched on virtually every yamaha sled made since 1996 Im fully aware of the minor issues theyve had...not glaring design flaws ..
The new partnership has produced the best Yamaha ever....get over it.
we will agree to disagree on this...it might be the best riding and handling fourstroke but its far from event he best yamaha fourstroke..
Getting really tired of hearing the sky is falling from people that don't even own a Viper.![]()
sorry....I owned basically that exact sled (with only a different motor) and know it well..

2014 had 26 changes from 2013 some significant. If you rode a 2013 Cat they are not the same. I have both a 2014 M8 and the Viper and after going over both with a fine toothed comb I saw no issues loose clamps or other. Well, the M8 gas guage sucks and had to bend the intank tang to read right but oh well.
I am not going to start a spat here in this thread on design flaws but the 2003 RX1 with bad ring design causing oil useage comes to mind or Phazer with ball joints falling out at 300 miles. We could have a whole thread on Yamaha design flaws but that is not what we are really talking about. We are talking about what might be the most trouble free launch of a new Yamaha model. And those that seem to ignore this fact. Choose a launch of any totally new Yamaha and lets compare (please pick the 2007 Phazer....lol)

okay..points taken...however...the procross owner that got "abused" by his ride...averaged a $150 belt blowing on average every 3-400 miles....many in as little as 100 miles...then there as the blown chains and gears...cracked chaincases...leaky heat schanger (for where the motor mount is welded)
sure I know theres improvements...many come from harping at yam and cat...
fyi...there were 126 changes or improvements from yam engineers ...

Nothing there I can disagree with

SJ I do value your experience with the Cats and Yamahas. I think you bought a Procross for a reason. Why not name what those reasons are? In last two years since you did. Many changes have been made. Some good some bad. Us Yamaha Viper guys may have to squish the last few fleas on the Cat but it is close. Closer than any sled made in my opinion. Hope you help.

The turbo motor was in a front heavy setup 9-11 z1...when they sold us/me on all the testing etc and saving 50 lbs off the front end..I got hooked...little did I know that virtually everything after the motor to the driveshaft was r.o.c.
REPUBLIC OF CHINA!
THE LURE OF THE TURBO MOTOR IN A SKIDOO LIKE CHASSIS...
But the execution was poor...not meant to handle in excess of the 200+ h.p. Thats was easily available...
If yamaha built the entire sled..I know it would end up being right...its cat that utterly screwed it up

But Yamaha never has built a sled that is anything like this sled handling, suspension and weight wise. So what you are in fact buying is a system of quality and management that Yamaha has. Do you think that they have abandoned that system?
