I have a 2017 Viper that has always had cold starting issues. Anything below -15 C and it probably wouldn't start without a boost. I got the latest flash, changed the relays and put in a new battery, but still had issues. It seemed like the sled was not turning over fast enough to start when cold. After reading this thread, I took the starter out and brought it to a starter/alternator repair place. They changed some brushes and one of the bearings in the starter, but it still did not sound right on their bench - had a real whine to it. They sold me a new starter and my issues are solved. The sled has never turned over that quick on cold startups. As Doug7000 stated above "Check your starter". It is easy to remove through the oil filter access panel.

Yep, This is reconfirming what I've discovered with Viper startup issues. I've seen way to many starter failures on all the Yamaha machines.
