Hey guys, anyone ride one in MI? i know there are some 1.25 and 1.5 tracks available.... how much narrower is the ski stance for MI trail riding? i was thinking an fx with 136 conversion, but maybe the mnt would be better.... any input???? thanks guys

I live in the UP of MI and the MTN Lite is not a good trail sled. It is an excelent boondockin sled. I would not recommend it for the trails

I would probably agree that with the stock track its probably not a good sled for hard pack or ice, but find a great track and you'll be good to go.

Come on Todd, just order the XTX and be done with it.

well, I find the mtn lite to push in corners very hard due to alot of track on snow (144). I came off an RX1 121 and I really do have a struggle keeping the mtn lite stable. Last weekend my friends were up from Ilinois with the rev 600 ho and RX1 and i rode those and what a difference for trail. With a smaller lug track you would be able to lubricate the slides much better but the footprint will still be the same. For trail, the fx would be a much better way to go, IMO. FX probably cost less, no mods necessary,,,,,,,etc

For what it is I don't think the MTX is that bad on the trail. Sure if I'm going to do a couple hundred mile run I'll ride my Nytro. But I ride my MTX for 20-30 mile stretches getting to the play area's. If trail riding is just as important to you then yes, extending a RTX/FX Phazer to a 136 with a freeride makes more sense.

If your riding mostly tail I agree with the rtx/fx but if you like to play off the trail the mtx is a great sled. I don't go on the trail if I have a choice so the longer track is always my preference. The short track Phazer with a 1"x14" is not going too far in deeper snow.

If you order your yamaha in the spring you can have to freeride track and low land kit installed at no extra charge. That will bring your top end up to 82 and you will have 1 1/2" paddles that are more trail friendly. It is not a high speed cruiser, but it is a fun to ride and you can run all day long. Right now I am getting a little over 20 mpg that includes lots of off trail playing. Try that with a nytro mtx.

If someone wants to buy an 05 vector with nytro ergos, i will place an order!!!!! the phazer would be for the kids to ride, and me to play with every once in a while.

I rode in the U.P. last week with my Mtn Lt, about 900 miles. No problems, just have to replace my slides now...

IMHO: A 121" Phazer would be fine for the intended riding. Although I am partial to longer tracks as it just makes the sled look bad @$$.

I'd say take ged's suggestion, then. A pair of duece bars might handle any push, too, along with proper suspension adjustment.

It's simple, if you ride trail agressive than a fx by far outperforms the mtn lite. I have riden both and I own the Mtn Lite. I'm gonna be selling the Mtn Lite, just not enough ponnies for my riding preference
