Desperate for Electrical Help Ignition Fuse Keeps Blowing(long read)

White/Red on pin "C" at the voltage regulator does feed directly from the Bat-Fuse however your initial problem was with the "ISC" fuse popping. Pulling the connector from the regulator would eliminate the VR from the short list. Do you have the Fuse Block relocate installed?

Was it the ISC fuse? If so be aware the fuel pump is powered off this fuse.

Sometimes a bad pump will start to fail fuse intermittently then eventually blow them more and more.

My isc fuse never popped. Ignition fuse and a couple batt fuses. I will pull regulator wires tonight.

When dose the fuse blow? As soon as the key is turned on or as soon as it’s replaced ? If it’s when the key is turned does it also blow with the kill switch in the off position?

As soon as key is turned to first position. It does it with kill on or off and it does it with relays removed also.

Can you post the wiring diagram with the fuse that opens highlighted, might be able to help you out If I can see the wiring diagram.

Congratulations cannondale27, you have 100 posts and seven pages on the most annoying electrical problem I've seen since I started hanging around with you guys. Congratulations to TY because if anybody was trying to do this without some help there would probably be a fire ... electrical fire of course.

Since it blows when the key is turned on and with kill switch off it should be a short on the red and violet wire going from ign switch to kill switch. With the kill switch off you can eliminate any thing after it. The red and violet wire goes from the ign switch through the hood harness into the main harness, back out of main harness and into the handle bar harness. I think you said you replaced the hood harness so I would check the main and handlebar harness paying close attention where it flexes when turning the bars and any pinch points or rub areas were it may be strapped to frame or bars.

stupid thing that happened to me once was a short/disconnect in the ignition switch .

Guess what. Still in trailer still hood on, Still being careful not to move anything. It now quit blowing fuses and runs fine. Had MtCooler over to show him the fuse blowing. Would not blow one but he spotted this!
