- None, looking now!
Kinger,
Glad to hear they are going to fix this. I know in a perfect world, mistakes would never happen. Especially on the customers end, however they do. Everyone makes mistakes now and then. I think I may have even made one ONCE. LOL
Hope to see ya up and running soon. Remember, I may make it out that way this season, so you have to get 'er going. Don't wanna ride double with me....do ya? lmao.

kinger - glad to hear that they are standing up for you. Get'r done asap. Watch them closely on the rebuild to make sure they do it right this time around.
Agree with FAMILYMAN - once you have been into the motor once it isn't intimidating at all the next time. On motor work like changing out say pistons most home mechanics can do the teardown and rebuild with some help their first time out, later on it's only work. Where you need help from the expertise is on measuring of bearing clearences, cam degreeing, cylinder bore inspections and measuring, and valve inspections and adjustments.

UPDATE:
The motor is being fully tore down and inspected, crank is perfect no wear, two bearings are iffy however and will be replaced, the cylinders still have the hone marks and look good. Going to check the top end this week and make the final assesment.
So far it doesn't look bad at all and probably would have been ok to run. These are tough little engines!
Anything else I should be checking for?

You don't have to send them out. Just feel for any sharpness on the top/bottom outer edge. Compare it to a new set if you're not 100% what to look for.

Just got a update, the pistons, cylinders were perfect and actually had some oil in them. No re-ring is needed here. However the head is SHOT all the cam journals and cams are scored. They are going to replace with a low miliage (800 miles) used head complete with the cams, valves etc that, that specific head was broke in on.
Sound right? They are doing everything from what I can tell to make sure this engine is perfect for me. Great guys so far.

Hopefully you will get a warranty with that used head. If it were me I 'd ask for a new head. It wasn't your fault that this happened.

That used head should be fine. Glad to hear they are taking care of you. Make sure they use your HD head bolts on reassembly. Paul

I said to rememeber the head studs then he quickly said they are still in the block DOH! Just the head is swapped not the block where the ARP studs are installed. LOL Got me too Paul!

Just checked the engine out first hand.
Head was shot like they said, the cams and journals in the head were scored so bad it looked like they were black and grooves were deep.
The crank looks real nice
The bearings are all new, they plastigauged everything first and ordered all new
Rings/pistons/rods were already back in the block, so I am taking their word they are ok. I don't think they are taking any chances so I trust them at this point. The rod bearings looked ok but they are plastigauges and will be new. New rod bolts, etc everything that stretches once tightened down.
Cylinders have hone marks and look great.
Overall I'm impressed with the dealer, it was just a oversight and they are making it right. The head is from a 05 with 880 documented miles and they are going to check all those clearances and shims, etc to make sure that is ok.
I'm happy just going to suck I may miss the first snow, probably another week or so before i get the engine back.
Thanks again everyone!
