Engine failures

3 pages in and only 2 possible valve failures?
I wonder if a few were damaged not knowing turning the motor in reverse while working on clutch could do harm.

The bottom line is not too many failures or this thread would be blowing up.

I don't think you will find much in 4 stroke engine failures in any snowmobile. Doo has sold a ton of 4 strokes and you never hear of any engine failures and the same goes for Cat. Now the Doo and Cat dealers keep plenty busy rebuilding 2 stroke engines so we don't have to worry about them getting bored.

5 in N.B. last winter I was told by reliable source. One was in my riding group.
2 Stock 3 tuned.
Center cylinder I was told on all.
All made it home.
Also a complete burn down by fire up north N.B..

So that's 2 stock. Burn down could have been anything.
What is going on with the center cylinders?
Is it the air box?

without facts or proof. No engine is bulletproof.

That’s why they call a three cylinder, triple trouble, center always lean and hot. Been like that for years with the triples. Old SRX.

I've been a member here since day two. Not known for starting #*$&@ or telling lies. Not sure why you would assume I am. :dunno:

I can give you my source who works for either Yamaha or a dealership and my Riding partners contact info if you would like to verify.

I've purchased 11 Yamaha sleds since 1998. Not like i'm a hater.

Just making info available which is what the poster asked for.

No issues with my sled.

More directed at thread than you. Bad mood yesterday. Sorry.

Man that burnt sled thread has me wondering about these stock muffler flashes... Would a SanDale 3" run a lot cooler in general?

I'm thinking yes. Stock tune, stock muffler my right foot always stays extra toasty. So it's cranking out some heat.
