I had the opportunity to install Excell's XV7 Cold Air Kit on my SR Viper XTX along with his clutching recalibration from stock as well as the Excell Silencer to round of his kit as a complete bolt on. No fuel controller.

It took me a few hours to install. I wanted to make sure it was perfect. Cutting the hole in the air-box for the intake is the most important part so be very careful and take your time. Read thru all directions thoroughly before you complete the install.

Something to take into considerations is if you have a aftermarket bumper on, you will need to remove it to get the hood back on over the new air intake.

See http://www.excellmotorsports.com/xv7.htm for more info and detailed installation directions.

Preliminary Testing:

Nice throaty sounds on the silencer but at trails speeds fairly quiet. Very snappy and nice mid range. First run ran 92 mph and near perfect trails. Few tweaks to get closer to RPM range and the XTX did 98 Mph. But as I stated these were very fast and flat trails. More real world trail testing to come.

Cant wait to here how it performs?

Mr. Sled didn't you have Ulmer's intakes and power commander v on this sled? I know you have more testing to do but if so how did the power of this intake kit feel compared to the Ulmer one?

The Excell Kit has less intake noise and from what I can tell it may have more pull in the bottom to mid range but I have not had enough seat time to be sure in all conditions. Strange thing is the Excell is so quiet that you dont realize how fast you are going.

Take note, these installs are not here for a head to head comparison of advertisers, I have to be able to run each kit that is offered to compare them to stock only. I want to give each of them a fair shake. I am also going to try this " Clutching on the Cheap" as time and snow is available to do so. I look for consistency in all conditions within a certain criteria of normal trail riders.

Got it. That's what I thought. Thanks

Awesome! They both sound like great kits to go with either way. Can't wait to hear more results as you get some more miles on this kit.

Awesome! I am real happy with my Excell system. About same results as you. Mid range really woke up and little bit on top. Everyone loves the sound including me.

Got some saddle time on my 2014 LTX SE with the Excell air box kit, exhaust and clutch kit over the weekend in the Old Forge region. She ran real well. Very impressed. Increased mid range and some more top end. I got 96 mph on Stillwater reservoir. She has got a nice rumble. Well done Aaron!!

Very nice job on the install Tom! Keep the testing results coming our way!

Anymore results about the kit guys. I have the COTC on my 15 ltxle and want something that looks, performs well and holds up . Only have on 370 miles so far.

What kind of results are you looking for?? So far the silencer broke in and it isnt quiet ... but not to bad. it has nice mid range but its not going to break any speed records in trail form... I saw 84 to 88 mph in loose to tight trail conditions this weekend and 90 on hard packed road.
