Put 40 miles on my sled first impression:
1. Weight transfer was awesome hit it to about 3/4 throttle pull the skis. I believe in break in so I never went to the bar.
2. Single shot suspension is stiff and I have it set that way because I am a big boy but I may have to back off on the air pressure. Waiting to see if it will loosen up first.
3. The front end is great no darting and steering so easy that I thought I don't have enough ski pressure but it doesn't over steer or push so far so good. Power steering rules.
4. Sled stayed flat in the corners which was a big surprise no ski lift. But I was only going 30 MPH that 6K rpm BS for break in. I never let up it was like having cruise control.
5. Best of all is the clutching and how smoothed it is and the way it runs is prefect you appreciate that when coming off a Viper.
I have also changed the rear shock it had issues before I even road the sled so far the new one seems ok.

Thanks for the review,
Keep them coming,
They need to get rid of that air shock in the rear and put a quality shock back in like the past,

This is my first dealing with Air and the only thing I like is I didn't have to put a heavier spring in. My dealer has had no major issues with them he actually likes them and he doesn't like much. Thanks for the review,

I am a Ohlin shock person I love adjustability, these Fox shocks worry me. This rear shock is smaller in diameter than the other rear Fox shocks without the attached reservoir, so time will tell on how the shock will turn out.

Sounds like your coming off a viper. I've been considering an apex and wondering how you like the handling through the corners compared to the viper ? and the weight is it all that noticible when riding ? Does the apex need more, less or about the same leaning into the corners as the viper ? Which sled is more bump capable ? Overall which do you prefer ? Thanks any info would be great.Put 40 miles on my sled first impression:

i have m-20 air suspension and it took 250 miles to break in and soften up, different shock but same type of breakin i assume. pstn head if i rode in canada i would go with apex over viper hands down, viper better at bumps and tight trails, apex better for your trails.

I personal like the Apex handling over the Viper, the viper I would have to lean more into the corners, you sit much higher on the Viper. The weight both machines are to heavy and hands down the power steering is awesome it makes up for that weight. The viper is better in the bumps but I cannot say how much better because I haven't put this new suspension through it's paces. The rode the Viper for 4000 miles and the machine nickel and dime me to deaf. It was so condition sensitive it was sickening. Top end sucks you can spend money to make it better but I spent enough on the sled. I agree with 66 Canada hands down the Apex is the way to go. I have a camp on a lake and ride groomed trails so top end is important to me so the viper had to go. To me the best part of the Viper was the heated seat and the ergonomics and it is a great looking sled. I have never been that concerned about how capable a sled was for big rough bumpy trails I slow down and take my time because going crazy on the bumps is a good way to end up in the hospital!Sounds like your coming off a viper. Thanks Apex 1958 what you describe is exactly how I feel about the viper, I'm looking for a high speed smooth trail sled. Even my nytro was faster than the viper but at high speed, long distance riding was a little bit of a handful. Probably getting older but still want to cruise at high speed, big trails.

Do you happen to know what size carbide / no-carbide runners that came stock on the dual tuner Skis?

Wow that is interesting. I would have guessed stock would have been round 9mm no carbide runners on the outside position and the round 9mm runners with 2” of carbide on the inside position.Yes 4" in and 4" out I put 6"in and 4.5" out.

UP my dealer changed them before I even got the sled he gave me the originals. Now you have raised a question, he told me that the sled come with no carbide on the outside. Mine was his first Apex 16 out the door so I under if the pervious years came with no out side carbide I have to ask me? If he said they came with 4 and 4 I would have worn them out first. I plan on using them away after the 4.5 ware.
