When I did mine I added a 1" wide by 1/8" plate inside towards front side of the 3" hole then I filled in the underside of the sub frame where the 3" hole plate is bent over the edge and made it flush. Then I welded on the bottom plate for a total of 1/4" thickness in that area. I drilled and tapped the holes for the skid plate bolts. My skid plate is very similar to the mountaintech one but I made it myself and had the holes in a different location then his.

Yes, I've been trying to use the search on here and I find no cost. How much for the gusset kit?

Mine cost $83 shipped to Newfoundland. Well worth it.

Just got back from spending the day with Grizz, I know have a straight subframe and "Grizz Gussets" installed! I highly recommend this fix! Grizz is truly a master craftsman and his this issue resolved with his gusset kit. Thanks again Fran, you saved my season!! I attached a couple of pictures of the master at work....

Hey guys, I bought this gusset kit and now I'm going to weld it into the frame, kind of wondering how you guys welded it. I have access to a mig welder and my brother is a welder, albeit with no experience with 4130 chrome molybdenum welding.
So what method/ wire filler did yous use?

For MIG use .023 ER80S-D2, you need heat to make the penetration wide so as to stress relieve the weld as you go, so small wire, faster feed to slow fill the void yet generate alot of heat doing it. Use a 75/25 mix and make sure to Stainless wire brush and acetone clean the mating surfaces. The inherent oil on the 4130 can really screw the puddle if allowed to remain during the weld.
Tig really is the best way to do it, sometimes throwing a man 20 to 40 for 10 minutes of his time is well worth it in the long run. Save yourself a little dough and do all the prep work for the welder, make it so all he has to do is weld, some guys will just do the job gratis if you did all the prep work for them.

Well, I finally received my used parts from Montana and installed a replacement lower a arm and shock on my Nytro. The day after Boxing day I nailed a pressure ridge on the lake. It felt like I hit the Great Wall of China. I bent and twisted the lower a arm and the shock. I thought for sure I bent the subframe even with having a Grizz Gusset kit installed because everything looked so far out of whack. Anyway, I installed the replacement a arm and shock and everything looks great!
Anyone who doesn't have a Grizz gusset kit should seriously think of getting one. I just want to thank Grizztracks for making these kits available and always taking the time to answer many of our questions.
