Seeeing as how I can't go riding yet, I've been giving my Attak quite the examination for the last few days. Taking off the cover in front of the handlebars could be a little easier. And holy crap, looks like it'd be a real pain to change plugs, if need be. I never changed plugs once so far in my RX-1 in over 5,000 miles, but if I have to in the Attak I hope I'm not with a two-smoke crowd or I'd never hear the end of it!!! :o|

In the 3 years of the Genesis I have only heard of it fouling plugs at start up when the choke is left on too long. FI should make starting pretty fool proof. I however wouldn't let it idle too long when you first start it.

I agree with mighty... with the FI.. i dont think it would be hardly possible to flood the sled or foul a plug..

I dont even carry extra plugs

I asked the service rep guy at Nelson's about this and he said it is a 4-stroke EFI you should not have to service your spark plugs for a long time. However he did warn DO NOT rev the sled up when you first start it as it is in a choke mode and does not need extra gas. Basically don't start it up and rev it for every one of your buddies that comes over to see the new sled. It is fine to start it and let it warm up until normal idle then you can rev it. I am not to worried as they did demos all day at Nelson's in 80 degree humid weather and started them and stopped them every ride and they never fouled a plug or overheated (they had a big radiator on them)

Just picked up my Attak last night. I made the mistake of not letting get to normal idle. It did choke it out a little. Then my neighbor came over later and it ran fine. He is a die-hard Polaris guy and said it was a sweet looking sled, great fit & finish.

This is the best sled I've ever seen from any of the four mfgs.

YOU MUST BE KIDDING RIGHT :D

Or you have never owned a YAMAHA SNOWMOBILE BEFORE :D

Many of us Yamaha die-hards here in Manitoba, never ever even have had the HOODS UP ON THE TRAIL. ;)!

Changing plugs is something you can do ONCE A YEAR ..........Just Because. As stated about be careful with the choke on starting.........And RIDE TILL YOU DROP :flag:

It's actually not that bad. I can do it in under 5 minutes after I did it the first time!

I'm resisting the urge to turn the key, it's killing me. But I'd rather really let it run when I'm ready to take it for a good ride.

My Girl would kill me, but I would have had that thing started and the lawn tilled...LOL
We'll see how I handle it when I get my Apex home in a few weeks.

I know I wouldnt be able to resist the temptation. In terms of exhaust note, nothing compares to that big 4-banger. The Vector's triple sounds good, but the 4-banger just sounds ANGRY! LOL Its one of those sleds that the instant you hear it there is no doubt in anyone's mind what sled it is.

Like I said, I never changed plugs on my RX-1, or the Viper either. Very rare to see a Yamaha hood open I agree. Unless you're showing someone that sweet a$$ engine!! I'm not saying I think I'm going to have to change them, just wouldn't want to do it if someone was waiting on you. ;)!

It's really really easy, I can do it in 3 minutes, that's 2 minutes less than Srxspec..........LOL :flag:

Pop of the the electrical cap, pull the boot up &, Ratchet like mad. With an air Ratchet...... I CAN GO EVEN FASTER ;)! We are always racing to see you can be the quickest :tg:

BTW.....Use a pencil magnet to pull them out & slide them back in :flag:
& I also put Metal Marker dots on the Boots & Plugs........1 DOTS TO 4 DOTS. Easy to keep track of each cyl that way, and keep those plugs back into the same hole. For Jetting & Adjustments, I also keep a note book and record all data.

Didn't mean to give you a hard time........Sorry, I guess I should have worded it better. ;)!

Have a great day BlueBlood ;)! :flag:
