how to pull start your Viper

Those OSM guys are complete morons and shouldn't even be giving advice on any level. Reason being anyone with any shred of common spence knows you " remove the belt" before attempting this procedure, make it a whole lot easier and completely safe.

Ok then! What does your common sense tell you to do after that?

Take the belt off? Umm no thank you! The belt causes very little drag on the primary, and trying to get a belt on a running engine is a really good way to loose a hand/finger.

take the belt off......that's funny.....I would pay to watch you try and put the belt back on with the primary spinning

Ummmm, yeah, I can understand for towing a sled...removing the belt...but I personally would never attempt to put a belt on a running sled.

I know this is kind of joke VID but really?? Thats how you miss treat your Yamaha....After seeing this I may never buy that Magazine again.

I bought the Magazine. What do you do when your at a motel and the starter gear fails. You either pack it in or do what they did. The sled was a cold start hence why they had to do it a few times. I would of had someone on the sled keeping control of it . You can 't install a belt on a moving clutch No way no how and you are asking for bodily injury .

As a Magazine representing the entire industry I don't think it was a good idea to show this to all the brainless wonders of the world. Someone will get hurt and then they could be to blame... its just a foolish thing to show to the public even if it had to be done to get the sled running. This is just my opinion.

Not to mention the damage you could do to the sled. Sloppy PTO bearing anyone? It's a wonder they didn't break the cast parts of the primary.

I 100% agree with you! They should not have claimed they were from the Magazine very stupid. I think what they did was sort of safe except for the gentlemen holding on to the strap . I have more problems with people drinking and driving there sleds and not keeping to the right on the trails. I'm sure we have all be there. Many of us just plain drive to fast for conditions . Yes I'm guilty of this! They should not have made it a joke on the Video!

I got my knuckles wrapped by a spinning clutch and it hurt like hell! Was I putting a belt on??? No.

I had actually thought about using a similar method in case of a dead starter except you would slowly take up the slack and then pull to mimic pulling it by hand like in the video I posted on YouTube with the Phazer. What they did was try and rip off the primary. It didn't lurch because of the motor starting, it was the other sled pulling it on the primary! Could have just held the brake.

They are idiots and I'm not buying the cold start part.

If it was cold, he wouldn't have been able to run it right after starting...a yammie won't go till the cold light goes off.

There is booze behind the scene there somewhere
