What is all required for the 240 SS ? I was told today it has too be run with 3bar,cai,upgraded bov ,dtya-1 weights. Is this so? If so it's over 2g's minimum which I wasnt expecting.Yes all SS tunes require 3 barr!

Definitely doesn’t have to run with a CAI!
And I’d use age QAY70 Dalton weights for 240 Tune not the DTYA-1’s. And yes you’d need to replace the stock BOV, and yes you do need the 3 Bar map sensor for the SS Tunes now.
It’s not gonna be Two grand though...but it’ll be a Grand when you’re done.

What was the on snow difference between the -one guy with the 240 pm flash with stock map sensor and Bov , compared to the other two ?Got out today with 3 other guys all different setups
-Mine SS header pm bundle (240/270/300)
-one guy had the SS stock muffler bundle(3 bar and turbo smart bov)
-one guy with the 240 pm flash with stock map sensor and Bov
-one guy stock with a hindle muffler
All tunes we ran were flawless and pull hard!!
I did some live data recording with my data logger on both tuned sleds to dial in the clutches
The yamaha 240 pm tune with cai, stock map sensor and bov is around 75 grams with qay70 running 8800 /8900
The thunder cat with the SS stock muffler bundle 225/240/270
We did remove some weight to get him to 8800
He end up with a 1/4 inch slug in each of his qa2 76 weights
(Clutched for 270 tune)
If my 240 tune is running at 8600 rpms , if I go to the SS 240 , would it appear I could use the same Dalton set up , and be at 8900 +/- ?

No, both tunes make the same power and should spin the same RPM, the SS will just respond quicker down low.

I was hoping , but either way I need the rpm's raised up.No, both tunes make the same power and should spin the same RPM, the SS will just respond quicker down low.
Thanks for that clarification .

Interesting tid bit here, Tommcat performance Dyno’d the new SS Tunes, and he said that they are the real deal, and have even more torque, and as we all know/thought, they do indeed come on very very quickly.
He also said that he had to put even more of a load on the engine to get the Dyno to be accurate due to the increased speed at which the power/torque comes on; which he said may cause the R’s to spike up higher right out of the hole If pegged. But should settle back to where the old 240 was clutched for.

Yes, I spoke with Dave yesterday and got all my tunes updated to SS tunes. He said the same thing. Will rev quicker yet maintain the same peak power levels. Should put my clutching that is working the engine a bit hard down low to be about perfect. I like it!

How do you know it's working hard down low?

aside from the dust , should I change to the XS825 , to handle the torque , of the SS tune ?
If so will I need to reduce the clutch weights even more to get my 8900 rpm's , than with the 8JP ?

Because in my case I'm clutched so it hits and pulls up slowly from 8400-8500 and is working the engine very had as it accelerates up thru to 9000K.

You will more than likely have to take weight out of the primary to run the 825. Most are seeing a 300-600 RPM loss depending on clutching setups and configurations.

I was thinking about the 270ss but was told it's not very trail able and can forget about any kind of fuel economy, if so than maybe the 240sm makes more sense?
